University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

Go check it out. She said her daughter did, but said time is of the essence.

is it university of florida parents & families

My oldest is at Ga Tech and loves it. It is a really special place ;). He also got in Michigan and VT. He didn’t apply to UF. There is a Ga Tech prospective parents page on Facebook which is really helpful if you have questions. My senior son was deferred at Ga Tech so we are hoping for good news in a couple of weeks. He is a business major so UF also in contention.

WOW, no honor with NMF and perfect ACT score?

My son got in but no honors college either

OOS
NMF
34 ACT
3.8 GPA UW
Boarding school with all college level classes

I guess the honors standards are really high. We are still thrilled! Hopefully Benacquisto Scholarship will come in next week.

Benacquisto is different than merit. Your child lists UF as their first choice school and then we get that info from National Merit and code the scholarship.

That is the case many places. Priority registration is huge at a big school but neither of mine had any interest in an honors dorm. At UGA we have been told that certain employers will only interview honors business students Not sure if that is true but was concerning enough for him to write the essays :joy:. Generally I think it doesn’t give you a benefit with employers at most schools if your grades are excellent. It may give you a boost if they are not.

Daughter in - International Affairs although I see people here say major doesn’t matter. 32 ACT SS, 3,95 UW, 4.53W, good ECs.

Did not apply to Honors. Her friend got into business with a 26 ACT - but read how the first two years is mainly on-line so she’s not going to go. Odd, her friend got into FSU Summer but UF Fall.

Congrats to all - we’ll be down Spring Break to check both FSU and UF.

Please do if you have any questions!

Heard that the Honors Program essays are read/graded/scored on fully answering the prompts, staying on topic, and not straying from the question asked. Just FYI.

That is a huge issue for my son also. Will have to investigate.

I’m instate and got in. It says my “Residency for Tuition Purposes: Undetermined”. Is his an issue or does everyone’s say this?

It’s a crazy, unpredictable process. With your stats and backgrounds, I have no doubt you’ll find THE college for you.

Son accepted (had not applied to Honors college as did not see the benefit in case of Florida).
OOS (California)
3.8 UW GPA; not sure exactly how much weighted GPA (probably 4.1 or so)
1450 SAT; Math II Subject SAT: 800;
7 AP classes including Calc BC (max allowed at school)
ECs: Karate black belt and 3 years work experience as karate instructor; Volunteering: Tutoring (also exec team member of a non-profit tutoring academy)

Had originally written the following: BTW he applied for CS - but the acceptance message does not mention the major. Is that normal?

Found the following on a UF admissions page:

10. “If I choose a certain major on my application, I’ll have a better chance for admission.”

Nope! UF does not consider the major a student chooses when making decisions. In fact, students are not required to choose a major until their sophomore year. So put whatever you think you want to study on your application, or don’t put a major at all.

That’s fine. They will email and let you know what to turn in for consideration. It is most often easily fixable.

Was it supposed to say this? Or was the status supposed to be determined?

Daughter accepted!
OOS (Georgia)
4.0 UW (4.5 W)
34 ACT
13 APs
ECs: Dance, Business Association Intern, Georgia Governors Honors Program, Beta Club, Honor Society
SO FREAKIN’ EXCITED because this is my alma mater! GO GATORS!
Now…to convince her to decline that UGA offer…

Would be interested to see the breakdown of the number of students accepted for fall, summer B, and PaCE. Just been on the accepted student Facebook page and it seems like about half the people on there were accepted into PaCE.
