Anyone know what time decisions will be released on 2/26?
After 6pm EST.
Often it is available 1-2 hours earlier than stated by the university.
Basically, they activate it, then turn off the lights, lock the doors and get out of there as fast as they can. It is done on Friday night for a reason, to give those rejected 2 1/2 days to calm down before they are available again. They have done this before…
I wonder if the website has ever crashed. Do they send an e-mail out at 5:59? lol
I just checked the post for class 2024. The first report was at 5:19pm on 2/28. I will be checking the portal from 5pm anyway This is my son’s first choice school.
Good luck, everyone!
i don’t buy the kids with similar stats… couple of questions. do you truly know whether they had similar stats… also, keep in mind you can have a D and have all the other stats top shelf and you are eliminated because of a D. You really do not know the entire story of that person, and the story gets exaggerated as its gets passed down the line…
@GulfCoastDad Not crashed but one year was super slow because of other campus infrastructure. Things were revamped so it has been good for a few years now (knock on wood). An email for students to check their status won’t go out until Monday for the people who never checked over the weekend.
Did I see their transcripts, put them on a lie detector or give them truth serum? No.
Of the kids over the last couple of years that have been BIG surprise rejects by Florida, I have known the parents of one of them. They were legitimately floored. Their child certainly never had a D.
Perhaps most of the stories of kids with 3.9s and high 1400s being rejected by Florida are all internet exaggerations. I truly don’t know. I do see the red Xs on Naviance for a couple.
i agree, but most of the stories are exaggerations. also maybe they didn’t complete the application properly? that does happen!. you just never know when someone says they have this stats and that stat… thats all. take it all with a grain of salt…
@jhmoney, Or they missed the priority deadline by a couple of days? Or wrote a lousy essay or had no meaningful ECs or class rank was below top 10%. So many reasons could be at play.
Hi everyone!!
Do they consider mid year grades and demonstrated interest (such as emails to reps and info sessions)?
Also, for an OOS student, what is the act range?
Thanks!
@gold1234 - Mid-year grades are not considered with the exception of students graduating in 3 years. Demonstrated interest is not used in the decision making process. Last year’s ACT range middle 50% was 30-33
How many of this year’s applicants got an e-mail holiday greeting from the admissions office just before Christmas?
I am assuming everyone.
@fl1234 @fladadK4Q @flprepaidmom So here is my question about rank. My D is ranked 12/500, 3.98/5.1 “feeder school” problem ---- high 1300’s SAT’s. We were thinking Pace bc of scores. Trying to set expectations. It’s such a crazy year.
@erd1020 with a strong essay and ECs , I think you are good. @jhmoney didn’t your daughter have similar stats last year?
Otherwise I am going to pay a fortune for her to go out of state!
Don’t all the Florida schools have automatic access to the mid year transcripts?
I accidentally uploaded unofficial transcript into the portal, not realizing it is not needed. Will this affect my decision?
Also is this year a good one or bad one for OOS students?
Thanks
It is so hard to fathom that someone in the top 5% of their class with a 3.98 UW GPA and a high 1300 SAT (which I am assuming is above the 1365 average) wouldn’t get in. I think most do. Still, I see some red Xs on Naviance with those stats. I genuinely don’t understand this process.
