University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

I agree that they may have assumed you would advance to NMF anyway.

Doesn’t UT guarantee admission to top 6 percent of every in state high school which makes it very hard for OOS

Yes they do and that’s part of why I’m surprised UF has over 300 enrolled from some Florida high schools. 6500 per class at UF and 8460 at UT. Also only 9-10% at UT come from OOS.

The top UT feeder in 2017 was Plano West Sr HS with 102.

Both are the state’s flagship universities and are top 50 ranked. Oh well, I was just curious what was going on.

@kevi2900 , yes they guarantee admission to the university, but not to the major of your choice. So, even if you are in the top 3% of your class, you may not get into your first choice major.

I wish that UF would just do ED as this would have made life much easier. My son would have committed :100: but we sit and wait. He is IB, 1560 SAT as junior, 800 SAT Subject Math 2, should finish 7.0 GPA and 200+ community service hours, FFA heavy involvement and good essays. But honestly we are still worried he won’t get in. I don’t think UF has any easy gimmies on acceptance. Sadly he will head to Texas A&M if not accepted here.

There is no reason to worry about with that stats. He is all good.

I wish I felt your confidence- it has been beat into everyone to never count on UF! The alarm is set for Friday!

FSU middle 50% for fall went from 1290-1410 for the class of 2024 to 1250-1400 for the class of 2025. ACT 29-32 for 2024 to 28-32 for 2025. I’m assuming UF will see a drop as well.

Honestly, I am not confident at all. UF is my son’s first choice. You can imagine the level of stress

It makes sense. Someone here proposed a theory about the drop of SAT at those Florida schools. This is a good data point.

My daughter’s first choice as well. I get it.

The UF website says “there are no minimum criteria for the out-of-state scholarships”. Does this mean scholarships are based of off holistic review vs ACT scores and GPA?

Stressing as well. It’s going to be a long week. I was just reviewing the FSU acceptance thread. My D would have made it, but they didn’t have the program she wanted. But UF is a little more stringent with its requirements. So we shall see.

Daughter’s school in state considered a feeder school to UF. They accept 100-120 every year/

Just saw this. Stanton has a class average of 360 a year and between 100-120 get in to UF. Unless you are a star athlete anyone taking AP route does not get in…all kids are IB

@fl1234 i am familiar with 5 of the 10 feeder schools. That’s two counties in South Florida. The top 10% of those 5 schools all have Very similar gpa’s and they are probably 3.9 - 4.0 with the HPA deciding the ranking.

Looking at FSU acceptances as compared to last year, I am hoping UF will follow suit. :woman_shrugging:
