University of Florida Dorms

I’m going to be attending UF next fall and I’ve been accepted in the College of Engineering and the Honors College. I’m just looking for some input on whether I should live in Hume or try to get a more centralized dorm like Broward. I know that Hume is overall the better dorm, but it’s not that conveniently located and I was curious if it’s higher quality makes up for that. Also I’m coming in from out of state and the more social aspect of Broward seems appealing. Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated!

People seem to make a big deal of the distances of different dorms. Google maps says Broward to Turlington is 7 min walking. Hume is 14 minutes. There are a few dorms that are much further out but Hume is not that bad. Or the entire Graham area. Hume also puts you right next to the parking garage, Lake Alice and Flavet field.

Plus you can always bike if that 7 mins is a big deal.

Which engineering are you considering? Which classes will you have AP or other credit for? My kid had 4 of her classes literally across the street from Hume and 1 class in Hume and only 1 other class at Little Hall. Talk about convenient!!!

BTW, it is the Honors program not a separate college.
