University of Florida Fall 2016 Transfers

With 2015 almost over and the Freshman thread in full swing, I figured it was time to make the transfer thread.

Please post:

Current Institution
Current GPA
Pre-Prof GPA
College/Major

Good luck to all.

Broward College
Current GPA: 3.9
Pre-Prof GPA: 4.0
Major: Aerospace Engineering

College of Central Florida
Current GPA: 3.2
Pre-Prof GPA: 3.9
College/Major: Finance

Tallahassee Community College
Current GPA: 3.19
Pre-Prof GPA: 3.5
College/Major: CLAS/Economics

I had a pretty bad first semester so my GPA is low because of it. Do you all think I can get in with current stats or should I wait until the end of Spring to apply?

Pasco-Hernando State College
Current GPA: 3.93
Pre-Prof GPA: 3.86
Major: Information Systems

@uftransfer18 I do not think it is really going to matter. They may wait to for final transcripts from spring to give their decision. Maybe someone else could chime in and give better/more accurate information.

Eastern Florida State College
Current GPA: 3.87
Pre-Prof. GPA: 4.0
CLAS/Linguistics ;

That’s a link to the 2015 Admissions Report. Page 17-19 show the amount of transfer students applicants and acceptances by field.

You’ll also find financial aid stats and other interesting information throughout. Worth the read.

@IAmSparkz I’ve always heard that they’re strict about admitting Accounting students, but I didn’t know it was THAT bad.

Great read, thanks for posting.

All of the business programs are very selective. Most of the transfer students accepted are in the BABA major.

@vessels

Glad you found it helpful. I’ll try to post any information I find.

Looking at it, I thought the engineering transfer had it worse. I feel bad for those guys.

Does anyone know how retaking a course works? I have 45 credits and I am going to take another 16 next semester but 4 of those credits I have already taken before. I know there is no grade forgiveness/replacement so does that mean I will have 57 credits or 61?

You’d have 61 credits.

Broward College (Honors program)
Current GPA: 3.56 (missing 5 classes which I’m taking this semester)
Pre-prof gpa: 3.67 (Still missing one)
Major: Public relations

Btw is the statement of intent a short and direct answer or is it a full out essay?

It says to submit “two 200 word statements”, and that was underlined, so they want a full essay.

My status just changed to this: "Your application for admission to the University of Florida for the Fall 2016 term has been received and is being evaluated. Once your grade point average is calculated and your eligibility is confirmed, your application will be sent to your college for a final decision.

Please refer to the information below to determine whether any additional information is required. If you have sent information to us recently, please allow time for processing."

Apparently they need my high school transcripts, which I didn’t think was an issue since I’ve done my foreign language requirement through my community college.

Has anyone else’s status changed yet?

Mine has been like this since December

You may contact your college for further information concerning your admissions decision. Please refer to the information below to determine whether any additional information is required. I have a 3.3 gpa and a 3.2 pre-professional gpa and I want to apply as a biology major. Do you guys think I have a chance of getting in? Should I even bother? I am an OOS applicant and don’t have my AA because I go to a 4 year university. I did bad my first year but I had valid reasons and I’m sure I am going to do well next semester. Also, will it be better if i apply to the CALS instead CLAS since there minimum gpa requirement is lower?

how long does it take to hear back from UF admissions office once your application status is
