I’m posting an update here today to say that I have been accepted. Wow, that was unexpected.

College of Journalism and Communications
They received my app on 1/25/16, my HS transcripts JUST got to them yesterday; status: Once your grade point average is calculated and your eligibility is confirmed, your application will be sent to your college for a final decision.
My adviser did tell me BC transfers get automatic acceptance to all public FL colleges, also I went to talk to an adviser at UFCJC who told me that if my GPA was above a 2.0 and I took all the pre reqs then I will definitely get in, also since Spanish is my first language all I had to do was have a 20 minute conversation with a dean of the Spanish department and she will certify that I don’t need a foreign language credit.
I still am very nervous since UF is my only choice.
Miami Dade College
Current GPA: 3.9
Prep-prof: 3.87
Biomedical Engineering
Have anyone doing BME got accepted yet
I think you may have misunderstood what you advisor was saying. The State of Florida has a law (called the 2+2 articulation agreement) that allows a student with an A.A. degree from a Florida College, the chance for admission into AT LEAST ONE of the state universities.
This law DOES NOT apply to students who are pursing a degree in a limited access program, as the program has additional sets of requirements that must be met, as well as space limitations.
This pdf (starting from page 14) sums it up quite nicely: http://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/5421/urlt/statewide-postsecondary-articulation-manual.pdf
I’m a BC transfer as well. My advisor never said anything about BC students getting automatic acceptance into all state universities. Even if you’re not applying to a limited access program, I doubt that’s a valid statement.
Does anyone typically know around when communications students start getting accepted?
@goldengirl15 I’ve been wondering the same thing. From most of what I’ve read online, they don’t start looking at communications transfers until after the application deadlines. I believe it’s March 1st for this coming fall semester. I may be wrong, but I’ve read a ton of people who have had to wait until a few weeks after the deadline, regardless of when they applied.
I’ve been reading the old fall transfer threads, back to 2012, and it seems like March is the month that takes us out of the limbo we’re in right now. I assume everyone that has all their paperwork submitted is getting the ‘GPA Calculation’ message. Most people in the past threads got an answer in late March, some in early April. Either way this is all speculation.
Personally I’m not a fan of the waiting, but this is a busy semester for me so it doesn’t have my full attention. What I don’t like is the pestering by UCF to continue with their ‘after acceptance’ process and document deadlines when I’m still waiting for a response from UF. Maybe I’m looking at it backwards? UCF is doing their thing and UF is being a nuisance with the waiting.
For anybody who applied for PHHP… the college is reviewing UF applicants in this month… So transfers, hangin there! It will eventually get to us.
I’ve been reading the old threads too. I’m taking three courses this semester compared to my usual four, so I’m finding that I have too much down time. Lol. The waiting isn’t helping.
My school has a direct connect to UCF, so I would definitely be accepted if I were to consider that route. Does anyone think it’s worth considering? From what I’ve read, it’s supposed to be second only to UF for online majors (which is what I intend to pursue). I’d love to hear opinions.
@billyemw What do you mean by “UF for online majors (which is what I intend to pursue)” Are you transferring as an online student?
Yes, I am.
@billyemw UCF’s has several “top” online programs (based on various rankings), so it’s not bad. It’s a solid safety, in case you don’t get into UF’s programs. If you have a choice between the two, of course choose UF. Prestige matters with online programs, and UF’s is going to be much more affordable (the state mandates that UF can only charge 75% of the normal in-state tuition rate, and almost none of the fees).
Good Luck!
I just checked and I got accepted for fall 2016!!! YAY!! I’m a Telecom major btw! exactly a week after they got my HS transcripts!!!
I got accepted!! My stats are on the second page of this thread, I believe. My only condition was that I finish my AA. I’m excited! Good luck to everyone still waiting!
An advisor contacted me to make sure I knew I was missing a pre req and let me know I could take it over the summer. She also told me to check my status in a few days because a decision will be made shortly! I’m a PR major btw so all other PR majors be on the lookout for your decision soon!!
Just got an email from the college of health and human performance. Not supposed to find out till late April early May
I got in to the college of journalism!! So happy, ugh. Anyone know anything about housing? I submitted the $25 fee/application a few months ago.
