University of Florida Fall 2016 Transfers

Hey @cccxmili I was notified via email about my acceptance to the college. It depends on your college though to find out when you got on. My boyfriend applied as a transfer for Fall 2015 for PHHP Health Science and did not find out about his acceptance until May 2015.

Hey, does anyone know how long it takes for the office of admissions to calculate GPA?

@GoodReplays I’ve been on that page for three months now. I assume that once it changes to ‘sent to college’ you can expect a decision within two weeks.

I got accepted into CALS/ animal science. Sent the app 2/26 found out March 9th @stillwaiting2k16

hello everyone. this is just a question since I’ll probably apply as a transfer student in 2 years (didn’t get in as a freshman applicant… ah well). however, is the transfer application identical to the freshman one? Like they still ask for the same essay prompt, and your EC’s and all that stuff? or is transfer application mainly focused on your GPA in college?

@garcdanny26

Both applications are similar but the approach is different. The focus is mainly on your GPA, overall and Pre-Professional. EC’s don’t have the same weight for transfers as they do for freshman, but there’s a second essay prompt that asks for EC involvement. Additionally, they only want EC’s that relate to your major, so keep that in mind. SAT/ACT scores are NOT required, unless you’re applying to the Teaching School.

As long as you meet your major’s required prerequisites and recommended transfer GPA. show some EC involvement, and write a decent essay, you’ll be fine.

If you’re applying to a competitive program, make sure you understand the transfer requirements as they’re a bit different to other majors. One such example is having a certain number of prerequisites done prior to applying. Many students get denied because of this. Students who have more prerequisites done are favored because of the space limitations of a competitive major.

I know I may have given you more information that you asked for, but I have one last thing to share. Here’s a link to the 2015 admissions report. Page 17-19 shows transfer application statistics by college and field.

@IAmSparkz I’ll definitely keep all of this in mind as I’m getting my general classes completed. As for the Ec’s, I was planning on joining the engineering society (I think they have one for each engineering major, but I’d have to double check). Thank you for all of the information, and I can’t wait till I can apply again as a transfer student. :smiley:

Oh snap, my application was just referred to CLAS! :open_mouth:

@GoodReplays, how long did it take for them to refer your app to your college?

@stillwaiting2k16 About a month and 2 weeks.

Thanks @GoodReplays, mine was just referred this morning! Fingers crossed. Good luck to you

Does anyone know if I’ll receive a notification concerning my acceptance on my personal email or on my gatorlink?

just thought i would say that i was accepted into the political science program!

to be honest, i don’t know how much this will help, but here are my stats:

gpa 3.13 and i don’t know my pre-prof, lol. not sure which classes are those.

my story is that i’m 36 years old and i went to boston university in 1997-98 where i was told not to come back after not applying myself and getting stuck in a rut where i had no clue what i was supposed to be in life. i had a 1.68 gpa when i left BU. flash forward 17 years and i was hit with the purpose i had always been seeking. i transferred as many classes as i could and started my 2nd year at the state college of florida with a 2.26 gpa. i’m currently taking my 11th-13th classes and have gotten straight A’s since going back. i will have a 3.24 after this semester and have to take statistics in the summer to finish my pre-requisites.

it’s never too late, and it seems that florida has given me a shot here. i’m truly grateful for the opportunity. i’m not exactly sure why they accepted me with the low gpa, but they must have looked at the large gap in classroom activity and read my statements positively. i’m guessing they liked the straight A’s.

anyway, good luck.

My application was just referred to CLAS! It took a few months after submitting all of my materials.

@hendrimike

Congrats, man. Reading your post, I’d say you’ve definitely earned your spot at UF.
