New citizens of Gator Nation are a happy lot, at least according to a new (and, yes, yet another) college ranking list. The University of Florida is No. 44 on the "50 Colleges and Universities with the Happiest Freshmen" list.

The list, released this summer by the College Choice website, called freshmen year "pivotal" in determining a student's overall college experience. It rated and ranked schools mostly based on the retention rate of first-year students (and then broke ties with graduation rates).

Darn it @Gator88NE‌ , you couldn’t make me more anxious to attend UF even if you tried! This news, along with its facebook page’s updates and pictures, are really taking a toll on my nails.

Admittedly, I don’t know how much of the “fun” I’ll be experiencing while studying CEE, but… Anything beats where I’m currently living. One of yours does engineering there too, right? She must be having the time of her life, right?

Yep, just started her Freshman year. :)

This is great information. Any comments on whether this happiest freshman trend holds true for both Greek and non-Greek students at UF? I sense Greek life may not be right for me, but I don’t want to be ostracized, either. Thanks.

I don’t think being Greek impacts it much, one way or the other. It’s simply based on freshmen retention rate. More than 80% of the undergraduate (men and women) are NOT in the Greek system.
