University of Florida or University of Georgia for business?

My daughter has been admitted to both and visited both – she is torn and is having a hard time deciding. What makes one school better (or worse) than the other??? I know Florida is usually ranked higher, but the Terry College of Business at Georgia has a higher rank than Florida, does that really matter?

Just trying to figure out the big differences between the two.

Thanks!

The programs are very comparable. I wouldn’t worry about the rankings.

If price isn’t an issue, pick the school that your daughter thinks is the best “fit”. It’s a nice choice to have! :-bd

Does your daughter have a specific major in mind such as insurance & real estate, marketing, finance, etc. If so, then that could impact her decision. Otherwise, both universities undergraduate business schools are about equal (US News ranks both undergraduate business schools as a tie at #24).

I would go with fit here. A couple of comparisons: For one, consider whether your student got into the honors program at UGA. I’ve heard that honors at UF isn’t a big deal. Honors at UGA is excellent and definitely enhances the overall experience. A lot of the intro and core Terry classes are offered as honors sections with the top profs. The other thing to consider is that I’ve heard there are lots of online business classes at UF. That is not the case at Terry. A few classes will have an online section, but students usually choose those for scheduling reasons, and the class size is capped at a relatively small number. Terry wants students in live classes. My D, eg, took the required business stats class online as an accelerated class (condensed into 1/2 semester) because the material was repeat for her.

Where does she want to go after undergrad? If she plans on living in Florida, UF is a great idea. Georgia/Atlanta -definitely UGA.
