University of Florida Spring 2017 Transfers

With the Fall transfer thread in full swing (and dead) and transfer application deadlines being in just a couple months I figured it was time to make the thread.

Please include with your post:

Current College
Current GPA
Pre-Professional GPA
College/Major

Good luck to everyone

Current College: Valencia College
Current GPA: 3.7
Pre-Professional GPA 4.0
College/Major: CLAS - Biochemistry

Is it that time already?

I don’t see why it is not, application deadlines are on september for most colleges.

Current College :Valencia College
Current GPA: 4.0
Pre-Professional GPA: –
College/Major : BS Computer Science

Current: university of Tampa
GPA: 3.9
Pre-professional: 3.93
Major: Finance
I doubt I’ll get in. I heard it’s basically impossible for business majors (besides BABA) to be accepted in the spring and I don’t even have a 4.0 :frowning:

Current: (out of state institution)
GPA: 3.9
Major: Statistics
I’m currently in the application process; does anybody know the difficulty of transferring in as a Stats major? Haven’t been able to find much information on it.

@statgator you will have no issue getting in with any math discipline

@lbetters2018 yeah, I think they took only 9 transfers when I arrived to Gainesville. You may be able to double major if you change your major. If you are denied admission to the finance major, they will not let you double/dual major in it in the future.

Current College Eastern Florida State College
Current GPA - 3.0 I failed courses due to a hospitalization. I at least brought it up from a 2.1 :slight_smile:
Pre-Professional GPA
College/Major- Geography

I graduate in a week. Im going to apply for their online Bachelors. I work for a government contracting company that handles geospatial imagery for the military. I was rejected for fall 2016 but I was told it was because I hadn’t yet completed the 2 prerequisite courses. Now that I will have my Associates and the 2 courses, I hope I have a shot. I haven’t seen 1 comment on this site’s forums pertaining to Geography. I know it’s not the most popular degree. I’m hoping that works in my favor as I understand getting into UF can be rather difficult. Best of luck to everyone!

That’s a link to the 2015 Admissions Report. Page 18-19 show the amount of transfer students applicants and acceptances by field.

As you can see, many transfer students go into the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) whereas Finance accepts very few. They’ll release the 2016 report in a few months but by then you all would have your decisions. Best advice I can give is to stay hopeful and try not to worry too much.

Thanks for that ^; wonder how many are out-of-state…

When do you guys think we will get notified if we get accepted or not? It seems like we get such a short time in the fall semester to arrange everything especially with holidays in the middle of everything.

Current - Santa Fe college
Current gpa- 3.38
(Taking 3 summer classes find out grades next week, hoping for all A’s to help raise my gpa)
Major- Sociology

I submitted my application July 13th, how long does it usually take? Havent seen to many sociology majors, do I have a decent shot at getting in?

@TahliaJayd This should help:

Does anyone know if you get into another semester, like summer A/C if you don’t get in for Spring 2017?

I submitted my app July 13th my app says that its been referred to your college for a final decision, does anyone know how much longer until I find out ?

Does anybody know why does UF asks for FL residency documents even if you are not yet admitted?

@Gator_01

It’s probably to speed up the process if you get accepted. When I got my acceptance, my residency status was ‘undetermined’. I sent an email to UF Residency asking if I had to send in all those documents even if I had in-state tuition at my college. They responded saying that I was now classified as a Resident and didn’t need to send in anything

@IAmSparkz Thanks for the info!
