University of Florida: What are my chances?

<p>Hi folks. I was wondering what my chances of getting into UF are.</p>

<p>I'm a High School senior and full time Early Admission student at State College of Florida, and plan on completing my Associate's Degree by the time I graduate in Spring 2015 I want to major in Electrical Engineering, and by the time I graduate, I'll have all of my prerequisites and even some courses that are required for my degree out of the way (Calculus w/ Analytic Geometry 1+2, General Chemistry 1+2, and I'm hoping to include Physics 1 in my spring semester at SCF as well.</p>

<p>My current SCF GPA is 3.6.</p>

<p>My composite ACT score was a 26. My Math was a 25 and my Science was a 24. I do plan to take the ACT again, in addition to the SAT, which I have not taken yet.</p>

<p>I've spent 3+ years of my life involved in the VEX Robotics Competition and am part of an independent VEX Robotics program. We hope to attend the VEX Robotics World Championships in April 2015. I've designed robots using CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor and have robot programming experience. I frequently compete/volunteer at Robotics events and have close to 70 community service hours. I was also the District-wide Sergeant At Arms for Manatee County Technology Student Association. </p>

<p>Does Early Admission/earning my Associate's Degree give me a substantial advantage when applying to UF?</p>

<p>Another question: When does UF open their application for 2015-2016 Freshman?</p>

<p>The application period is September 3 through November 1. Don’t miss that deadline! You need to have your final ACT or SAT score submitted to UF by the end of December. </p>

<p>Having a AA degree isn’t a substantial advantage over, say an IB or AICE graduate. It is viewed as a demanding program and UF will weight the grades as Duel Enrollment (+1.0 to the GPA, so a B would be worth 3.0 +1.0 for a total of 4). </p>

<p>Your test score is a bit low, but your GPA (if it’s a 3.6 unweight) looks good. </p>

<p>Spend time on the essay, it’s important. Also, have a copy of your HS transcripts available, so you can complete the SAR (Self-Reported Academic Record).</p>

<p>Since you’ll have your AA, you have to apply to both the University and to the Engineering College. </p>

<p>UF is a match/high match (if you can improve your ACT a few points, it would help). However, with it’s holistic admissions it can seem a bit random.</p>
