University of Hawaii vs. Arizona State

I'm not very familiar with UH so I wanted to compare it to ASU. Academic wise I have heard a mix of good and bad things and I'm wondering what your opinion is of the school.

So would you consider it academically stronger or weaker than ASU, particularly in business, communications, and meteorology.

ASU easily.

Is Hawaii really that bad?

Besides marine biology I believe--it's nothing special.

I live in Hawaii so feel free to PM me about this school but I don't think your child would enjoy themselves at UH. Academics aside, there is alot of red tape, parking is a mess, only 15% of undergrads live in dorms, and the dorms and other buildings are falling apart. Now granted its in a great state (and a very nice residential type neighborhood), but there is alot to be desired. Also I have heard from friends who go there that school spirit is lacking since alot of kids dont really want ot be there.

My D told me UH was a BIG party school...and judging from the people at her high school who chose to attend, it would suggest that is the case. Love the state-a sister lived there 20+ years-but academics may be lacking.

Hypebeast - the OP is a rising senior in HS.

I'd consider living as a homeless person in Hawaii, so I know for sure I would live there as a college student. Thats just me though

Are you talking about UH Manoa in Honolulu or UH Hilo on the Big Island? Believe it or not, every year there are kids from the Mainland who end up in a different school then they intended.

UH Manoa in Honolulu

Will a Marketing degree from Hawaii be sufficient? Or would ASU be a much better choice?

Is ASU that much better that it is worth passing up living in Hawaii and paying an extra 35 thousand?

If you want to have a good job after graduating from college consider ASU's Supply Chain Mangement Program. It is highly rank and its graduates are in great demand in the market place.
