University of Houston - business

Hi, I have recently been admitted to UH… But not in pre-business (my first choice). My SAT/ACT scores were not high enough for my class rank. I am admitted to exploratory studies. I am planning to go to pre-business. But… The thing is I really want to to go A&M or UTAustin. Throughout my life I have been an A person… I always get As on my classes… And my HS GPA is 3.98. What steps should I take to get into UT Austin? Or A&M? Should I transfer or no? The reason why I want to transfer after my first year is that I’m afraid that UH will not be a priority for employers. My dad is an accountant, and he wants me to be successful. I want to work for Ernst&young someday… For internship.

I’m curious … is it too late to take the March SAT and appeal? I have no idea but thought that might be an avenue you can explore.

Did you apply and not get into A&M? What kind of score are we talking about? Their academic admit program is for top quarter of class and a 1300 CR+M.

Also, I think UH is on its way up. The newish president there is dynamic, the football team is winning, and I know many who graduated from there and are highly successful.

You have not provided enough information to give you a solid answer. Have you applied to UT to see if they will offer you PACE or CAP. What about A&M. Your GPA is good but that is all we know about your academics. UofH has a good business program. It is not UT good but it is good. Asking should you transfer is putting the cart before he horse. Your academic success will determine if you can transfer or not.

I did apply to A&M, and I was denied admission. My SAT at that time was 1020 (M+CR). I took that SAT again this January and got 1150. I also took the ACT for the first time this feb and got a 26. UH accepted me, and I think I’m going there for fall.

I did not apply to UT-Austin knowing that I won’t be accepted. I want to transfer there (if I have good grades in UH) or take my masters there. I was just wondering if UH business school is a good school…
