****UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON CLASS OF 2021 DECISIONS THREAD****

Unfortunately, there is no University of Houston Forum so I am posting this thread here in the Texas Colleges Forum.

Has anyone been accepted to UH yet? How about the Honors College?

My OOS son applied to both UH and Honors College late August. His application was “Complete” around October 10. He is still in Complete mode as of October 26 with no decision. Admissions office told him 10-15 business days after Complete.

Good luck to all!

I attended UofH back in the early 80’s and had not been back on campus until last year. The changes that have taken place were amazing. Best wishes to your son. UofH really does need it’s own forum. You can go to twitter and lookup the hashtag UH21 to find some of the timelines.

My son has received admission, but we have only gotten notification via email and a letter on the portal. He is still deciding if he will apply to the honors college. We have heard nothing on scholarships yet.

Good luck to yoour son!

Son was accepted today. Waiting on merit-aid info and Honors College.

@STEM2017 Congrats!! We are still waiting on merit-Aid info. When we called they told us January? Makes no sense to me, but who knows.

@2017seniormom January?!?! I hope it doesn’t take that long. Son is waiting for Honors College - hopefully he’ll hear something about that soon. We are out of state, so as long as he get’s a $1,000 scholarship along with in-state rates, it is a great deal for us.

Good luck!

@STEM2017 That’s what the scholarship lady said. As far as honors, I think as long as they have all the info, the decision is given pretty quick. That is mailed though, so it wont be posted online. We would told he will receive a decision regardless if accepted or not in the mail to the Honors College.

@2017seniormom I just spoke with Honors Admissions. They said my S should hear in the next 1 or 2 months. He applied in August. Seems like they are in no rush. Oh well.

@STEM2017 I have decided that nothing about this college process makes sense. Has your son gotten his official package in the mail for his regular acceptance yet? We were accepted in mid-October and was told we would be sent the official letter with further enrollment info and have received nothing.

@2017seniormom Nothing yet. Just a green check in the status box…10 days ago.

Son received his invitation to the Honors College today. Still no word on merit. @2017seniormom

@STEM2017 How did he get his invitation? Son is still waiting on both merit and honors. He got accepted into his first choice, but we are waiting to hear from Houston to see what happens.

@2017seniormom The Honors College invite came in a small envelope today via snail mail. I was sure it was a rejection considering the look of it. I was wrong.

@STEM2017 Did you ever get a formal “Acceptance” in the mail from Admissions? We still havent gotten that. Such a weird process.

@2017seniormom No formal letter. There is a printable letter on the status page. I guess that’s their style. Saving trees?

Hoping they are putting together a package to get my son a little excited. So far very anticlimactic.

@STEM2017 I saw on twitter yesterday that someone just received a pennant in a big white envelope and tagged admissions. Maybe they are just now starting to go out. They told me there will be an official snail mail packet. So???

@2017seniormom They are very slow indeed!

Son received his scholarship package last night by US mail. $5000/yr AES scholarship plus this qualifies him for in-state tuition. A very nice package making UH much cheaper than his home state option.

Congrats on the scholarship. I know you guys have been searching for a school for awhile.

Congrats on the scholarship! I’m OOS too and I received my acceptance to UH but no scholarship yet. I was also invited to apply to the Honors College. You said that the scholarship came in mail, right? If you don’t mind sharing, around how good were your son’s stats? I’m just worried because I haven’t received anything as of now, hopefully soon.
