My son has received an offer to play football for the University of Houston. He is excited about being a cougar. I have been doing quite a bit of research on the university and I have also been reading up on the daily crime report. Does anyone know about the lifestyle of a student living on campus?

Safety is very important to us. If you have any information that could help me, that would be greatly appreciated.

I have read the Daily Crime Report for the entire year. What scares me most is the aggrevated assault (robbery with a deadly weapon). And this seems to be happening at the Cullen Apartments. This is where the students live.

I have also been doing research on the other colleges that has offered my son. They have college crime as well on campus. The intensity just doesn't seem so severe (as in robbery with a gun) (held at gunpoint) etc. - especially during the day.
I'm just curious as to the safety of the students (all of them) when the sun goes down. Are they safe in their apartments? Are they safe walking down the street of the University going from their parked vehicle in the garage to their apartment?

The education seems awesome. The athletic program seems awesome. I know many students walk away from UH with a great start in their career. I just have a few other questions regarding the safety and the student daily life walking along.

As any where, every student must use caution where ever they are. This is only for their protection. Even in small towns with little crime, safety is upheld with a person using common sense and making smart choices.

Thanks for anyone that can offer advice.
