Hi, so I’ve been browsing forums and have found a general trend in people stating that the university of Houston is looked down upon by medical schools and that a 4.0 at UH will be regarded lower than a 4.0 at UT-Austin. I was under the impression that UH is a tier one school that has an very impressive honors program but now I’m not so sure that will matter when it comes to med school applications. I’m just looking for your opinions about this. Thanks
If you read postings on this pre-med board, to answer your question:
Its what you do in a school count for med school applicants, the name of the school does not matter that much.
Two weeks ago, a UT-Austin student with 4.0 GPA was denied admission to all medical schools she applied to.
