University of Houston Vibes?

What is the University of Houston like?

I hear it’s a commuter College so what’s it like for on campus freshmen?

Can you get into the Honors College (which is very good, BTW?)

Everyone commutes so campus is empty when classes end, and half your classmates look like they’re 30.

@cbonk UH is no longer a commuter college (it used to be 20 years ago). Thousands of students stay on campus now … it’s best to directly ask REAL UH students than a bunch of strangers on CC that may attend rival schools wishing to deter you away

I spent some time on UH campus and I can tell you the school is very diverse, most students are from the Houston area, UH has a pretty good sports scene, and the campus is forever growing/changing.

The Honors College is one of the best in the country, BUT if you’re not in the honors college the school is terrible IMHO (engineering)

The school is still very much a commuter school. I’ve been there for 3 years now. I’ve lived far from, on, and close to campus.

Now, They are building a large satellite campus in katy (where most commute from) and this will ease the burden of traffic and SOME issues with parking. However, some colleges like engineering will remain on the main campus.

Also, They are getting a medical school to be opened in 2020. Pretty sure that will be on the main campus too.

PARKING IS A NIGHTMARE and a parking tag for campus is around $360, when I first got there they were $99.
