What is the reputation of the school in general?

It's not UI-UC, nor its neighbor to the south U of C nor, to the north Northwestern. OK school for CHI-town residents who didn't get into Urbana-Champaign.

UIC. it's a nice school. Great dorms especially if you get a new one. It's more of a graduate school because it's medical school is amazing.

Tyler; tell me why UIC has an amazing medical school

They're a very well known program in the area and you train at one of the major hospitals in Chicago.

I don't really know what else to tell you, because they do?

Not even remotely on the USNWR Medical School ranking

"OK school for CHI-town residents who didn't get into Urbana-Champaign."

-Or for those who just didn't WANT to go to UIUC......

That'd be convenient, wouldn't it?
"I didn't really want to go Stanford anyway -- I actually preferred SJSU all along!"

It's a very urban school, next to downtown Chicago and two expressways, with a wide variety of kids. A lot of them are the first generation to attend college, or the first to attend a US college.

I think its strongest areas play off of its location: Urban Planning, Social Work and medical programs affiliated with the nearby hospitals.

"That'd be convenient, wouldn't it?

"I didn't really want to go Stanford anyway -- I actually preferred SJSU all along!""

Face it; many people actually prefer the city to corn fields...... And, the difference between the two schools is not as great as the difference between Stanford and SJSU....

Very ethnically diverse.

The only really reputable schools are engineering and social work.

UIC does not have an amazing medical school, the facilites are decrepit. UChicago, Northwestern and Loyola all outshine UIC in that regard. And sure some students opt for UIC over UIUC, but the vast majority accepted to both head for the cornfields 100 miles south of the city.

Where did you hear this? UIC is known for their medical school. That's like saying U of I isn't known for their engineering. Please, prove me if I'm wrong - my mother is a nurse at UIC and has worked at Northwestern Hospital and they WANT UIC medical graduates. You maybe right about their facilities, but UIC's medical program is outstanding.

Also, UIC would be an ideal choice for those who can't afford UChicago or N'western. UIC's GPPA program will not hinder you career in the medical field vs. the UChicago or N'western program.

UIC COM is in the original building of UIMC, and so, it dates from about 1916. The building seems to be decently maintained. COM is the weakest of all the health science programs. All the other programs are truly top ranked.
