<p>I'm a sophomore girl living in Illinois.
I have a 3.8 GPA and I got a score of 31-32 on the practice ACT.
My extracurriculars are:
Rotary Club
Class Council
Spanish Honors Society
Newspaper Editorial Staff
Freshman Mentor
Girls Tennis</p>

<p>My issue is this:
I don't know if I'm good enough to get into UIUC with my grades and extracurriculars- but I REALLY want to go there.
My parents say it's okay if I don't get in and all, but that's the school they've wanted me to go to since I was a baby.
I want to major in something like Psychology.
My other issue is that I want to go to dental school after getting my bachelor's degree. I don't know how well that's going to work out, either.</p>

<p>I'm afraid that I'm too late.</p>

<p>All in all, my high school career isn't going as well as I'd hoped. Could you guys tell me if I have a good chance of getting into my dream school UIUC, or if I should just give up and hope for a safety school? </p>

<p>3.8/31-32 is just fine for UIUC with the ECs above… may even try for Chicago if your essay-writing skills are up to par.</p>

<p>You apply for your major prior to admission, and u of I has one of the top psychology programs in the nation so it may be hard but if you can get that score on the actual act and have a stellar essay your chances are good. </p>

<p>Psychology is in LAS. Once you are in LAS it is not an issue to change majors within LAS, other than chemical engineering. Your credentials are perfect for UIUC, LAS. I agree, also apply to University of Chicago. UIUC is a perfect match for you.</p>

<p>It should be a match for your from in state. If you are not admitted to Psychology, they would admit you to general study or your second choice major.</p>
