Hello,
I'm interested in management/marketing/advertising or media communications. I was looking into UIC since it's in state (so the price tag is attractive). I know UIC is a really prestigious medical/science school, but do they offer strong programs in the majors I want? I was looking into the honors college too, if that makes a difference.

UIC has greatly improved from the days when it was known as “Chicago circle campus,” but it’s still not at the level of the UIUC campus. The areas that interest you would be found in two different colleges at both of these campuses. At UIC, there is a communication major in the College of Arts & Sciences and marketing and management majors are offered in the College of Business Administration. There is no program specifically focused on advertising. At UIUC, there is a top advertising program in the College of Media and the College of Business is highly ranked. UIC’s College of Business Administration has a brand-new building; UIUC’s College of Business also has state-of-the art facilities, completed within the past few years. UIC’s location offers some advantage since its at the heart of one of the country’s major business centers, but the reputation of UIUC’s business college and the Chicago area ties of many of its students compensates for its location. UIC will be less expensive, especially if you live in the Chicago area and can commute.
