University of Illinois College of Business vs. Indiana University Kelley School of Business

I am a direct admit to both undergraduate business programs. I am in-state Illinois, but cost is negligible. Because both schools are BigTen schools in the Midwest, both have many similarities with enrollment, sports, dorm life, etc.

At this point, I am interested in studying Accounting, however Finance would also be a good option for me. It's pretty much down to Finance or Accounting, but I want to be able to have a solid backup plan if I don't end up enjoying accounting. The closest business-related course my high school offers was Macroeconomics, so I was unable to take accounting courses to see if it was for me.

Bottom line, I desire a career in Chicago following graduation. I feel as if the University of Illinois would provide a brighter job outlook for the Chicago area compared to Kelley.

Any tips or suggestions?

Kelley! If costs are similar, Kelley in a heartbeat. It’s like you’re saying “I can go to a top school in the country that employers swarm to or to a decent one for my state although by far not the best in the state, they cost the same, where should I go?” Both aren’t similar at all in terms of level. Kelley is actually recruited by all the big firms and closes no doors in finance (it’s one of the very few state schoolswith that claim of fame, with Berkely Haas being another one, and I think it actually does better than Haas with Chicago firms.)
BTW, congratulations on being a direct admit to Kelley (visibly you don’t realize how awesome that is but once you do you’ll pat yourself on the back.)
