University of Illinois scholarships

I decided to apply at the University of Illinois also and was wondering how are they scholarships for out of state students? I doubt I would qualify for any merit scholarships ( those with GPAs of 3.8+ and top percent of test scores).

Also, would out of state students have a better chance of acceptance at University of Illinois, or University of Wisconsin? Differences: UI has a higher acceptance rate, UW has a higher out of state student body.

The reason UofI has such a high acceptance rate is because they lack out of state people, therefore your chances of getting admittd would be more likely at the U of I. I’m not sure about the scholarships though, because they are probably not familiar without of state GPA and ranking so they don’t want to risk the chance of giving scholarship to people that doesn’t necessarily deserve it.

UIUC is renowned for giving out peanuts for scholarships. Don’t expect a dime unless FAFSA tells them you need a dime, at which point they will probably hand you a nickel.

Oh wow really? Well it is a great school, and so far all I will have to do is send out my transcript and test scores ( already submitted application), I guess it doesn’t hurt to apply ( do not have to pay application fee, qualify for fee waiver being low-income).

Well if you are low-income you are a lot better off than if you are a member of MENSA. They have almost no appreciable merit-based aid but if FAFSA says you need money, you will get it. If you qualified for the fee waiver, I bet you would be able to get some money out of the government and/or state. Good luck! Great school. I loved it there.

Thanks.
Yeah so far from all I know about the school its seems to be really great, surprised I just recently submitted my application, should have done so weeks ago ( since there are no recs required). Oh well I still have to send transcripts and test score so I guess it wouldn’t have mattered.
