University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Class of 2027 Official Thread

Accepted, in-state.
Gies
35 ACT, 4.3W GPA, Competitive public high school, APs/honors.
Decent ECs, but no exceptional achievement, unique essays (very creative, demonstrated passion).
Super excited–and relieved. Hoping to get some scholarship to seal the deal. Congrats to the other acceptances, and good luck to everyone else.

You are not alone- seems like others around in our area had the same result as OOS. All high stats and high SAT and strong ECS. Put Cs as first choice and only choice since it was OOS and got denied.

Thank you. DS was deferred with 3.67UW, 4.5W and 33ACT. good ECs.

So is the only instance you get accepted for your second choice major is if you get denied from the first choice? So what does it mean if the status is just deferred and there is no mention of which program? DS’ first choice was a direct entry to Gies and second choice was to College of Agricultural, Consumer & Environmental Sciences. Does the decision for both school get communicated separately come March? Thanks.

Accepted. Industrial Engineering.

Relieved after reading accounts of huge increase in applications

Yes, a deferral means they are still considering you for your first choice. If you are not admitted for first choice in March, you can still be considered for second choice. If you were admitted second choice now, that means denied for first choice. Good luck to your child!
