What are my chances of getting into University of Illinois urbana champaign with a 4.01 GPA and 27 act. I play varsity sports and am in NHS and other honors societys.
There are a lot of factors to consider. Since it is a land grant school, they take students from all around the state. I had two children get in with a 25 ACT, but they had excellent grades at a large public high school, one where very few would apply to U of I. If a lot of kids from your school apply, they will take a certain number. Also, you do not mention your major, but some schools are more competitive than others, so this impacts the decision as well.
Honestly, It’s quite difficult to say with UIUC. Depending on the program, the chance of admissions becomes increasingly more selective. Say for engineering, which UIUC is well known for, commonly cited to be within the top 20, admissions is more selective than for liberal arts. The same can be said for the business department.
The admissions department however does tout that they review applicants holistically; your NHS and sports participation will have weight in their decisions but minutely as many applicants are also in national honor societies and in varsity sports.
Your ACT is average for the university, but again, for engineering or business, is lower than the expected for admission although your GPA may compensate for mediocre ACT scores.
What major/department are you interested in?
I think a 27 is a solid ACT for u of i. make sure you have some leadership roles
@vicky268 As JLearG said, it depends. With that stat, you can’t get into Engineering or Computer Science of UIUC.
