Congrats on HHS. My D too!
Did hear good news on Bluegrass but nothing re: honors or competitive scholarship still.
Does anyone know when Selective scholarship status will be released? I know theyāre guaranteed as long as one meets the criteria, but it would still be nice to see them on my linkblue account. So far, Iāve only been offered the Provost Scholarship. I did KY GSA and GSP and fulfill the requirements (4.0 U/W GPA and 35 ACT). I saw an earlier post with dates about competitive scholarships but it didnāt mention selective. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
My son is in the same boat with GSP and the 35 ACT. The Presidential scholarship shows up in his LinkBlue account now. I would reach out to admissions or the scholarship people directly and check. They should have the full GSP list nowā¦
Any news on how open the campus is currently and how many classes are in person? Has anyone heard what the fall should look like and if classes will be in person then?
A campus rep told me selective will go out on a rolling basis with notification no later than the 15th of March
Email from Lewis, not accepted. STEMCats LLP instead.
New here. DD rejected from Lewis Honors College today. Her stats are 3.9/4.1, 31 ACT, AP, head drum majorā¦
We are OOS.
Do we still have any hope of a competitive scholarship?
Thanks in advance for any feedbackā¦especially from those parents whoāve ābeen there, done thatā
My daughter just got rejected by honors program. OOS, 33 ACT, 4th/500 senior class ranking, state XC. She was already accepted into Ohio State and Miami U honors which have much higher standards. Unbelievable. Goodbye UK
Same stats. Same outcome. Accepted in Clemson and U of South Carolina honors college. So confused. Completely agree with you!
Denied Lewis honors. Accepted to HHS program & received top level Bluegrass Spirit. OOS. 32 ACT, 3.8 UW/4.1 W, 4 yr athlete (2x captain), natāl honor society, APs/Honors classes, lots of ECs. Accepted honors at OSU, UD, SLU. Crazy year.
If you donāt mind me asking what program Did you Son participate in for GSP?
Yes he did!
Actually, UKās standards for their honors program is higher than Miami or OSU. It all comes down to the essay. UK very heavily weights the essay. The overall admissions process at OSU and MU are more strenuous in relative terms, but not the honors admissions. You can go back and review old threads. There are students that were accepted to top 10 (USNWR) universities with 35 & 36 ACT scores, and yet they did not get accepted into UKās honors programā¦
We were notified of top level Bluegrass on Friday, but have not been invited to interview for competitive. Does that mean we will not be receiving a competitive offer without an interview invitation? Thanks!
Was wondering the sameā¦
If itās all the essay - isnāt that just highly subjective - what three people you think are heroes?
I didnāt say it was all the essay. I said the essay is very heavily weighted. I am not defending UKās position, just explaining it for those that are unfamiliar with it.
Has anyone been offered the Patterson Scholarship for being a National Merit Finalist yet?
I have also heard that the committee for the Honors College heavily weights the essay. This is not the same committee that makes decisions about the scholarships. So not getting into Honors does not lessen your chance of getting a scholarship. I do believe interviews are required to get a Singletary Scholarship, but are not necessary for the Patterson. Some Presidentials may also be given out based on the interview, I am not really sure. I have heard that funds are tighter this year.
My daughter was awarded Patterson late last week. We are OOS so getting that award is a pretty big deal!
