University of Kentucky NM Scholarship

Is there any one out there who knows much about University of Kentucky's NM scholarship? I saw it includes tuition, housing, 1k stipend per year, IPad2 and 2k study abroad. If you have any info or even impressions, I would really appreciate it.

It doesn’t appear to be guaranteed but it looks very similar to the Alabama scholarship

National Merit or Achievement Finalist Patterson Scholarship
National Merit® or Achievement® Finalists who designate UK as their college choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by mid-April are eligible for the Patterson Scholarship. The Patterson Scholarship is in addition to the UK National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarship of $2,000, which is awarded though the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.*

Patterson Scholarship
The Patterson Scholarship is a renewable scholarship, valued at $68,000, and includes the following: Four-year renewable award covers the cost of tuition, room and board, $1,000 yearly stipend, an iPad2®, and $2,000 for a Summer Education Abroad program. No scholarship application is required for the UK National Merit®/Achievement® Finalist Patterson Scholarship, but finalists are encouraged to submit a completed Academic Scholarship application to be considered for the Singletary Scholarship Program. If a student is awarded a Singletary Scholarship, that award will replace the Patterson Scholarship.*

I ended up calling their admissions office and it is guaranteed.:)

They bumped it up this year, it used to be a near full ride the first year, then free tuition the next 3, but now it is a guaranteed full scholarship. I didn’t find out they’d upgraded it until about a month ago and by then I was fully committed to Bama. It would’ve been a much tougher choice because I like UK a lot.

Unlike many other schools, UK is actually upping their NM scholarship. It has now one of best in the nation.

^^^

Is this a mistake on the UK NMF scholarship or are the amounts only for instate students?

valued at $68,000

That isn’t enough to cover 4 years for an OOS student. OOS tuition, room and board is probably about $30k per year.

valued at $70,000 for in-state and $110,000 for OOS.
