University of Kentucky Woodland Glen 2

Anyone else going in here? My son just got an offer there.

Is he in a LLP? How do they decide which room type students are offered in buildings where more than one option exists? D has not put in for a LLP, so no housing information yet for us.

NaperMom, He did ask for LLP. This is actually his third choice (the Greenhouse dorm); but on calling UK and speaking to someone in the housing department they recommended he accept the offer if he wants to live in a new dorm. His first choice was Central but he didn’t get into Honors so that one was a no go for sure; second choice was Haggin because he’s interested in the healthcare field so not sure how they choose. He wrote essays so maybe they like his greenhouse dorm essay the best!

Sorry to be hounding you for information, but my D SO wants to live in a newer dorm. When did you submit your housing application? Did they actually offer you a specific room? Are you being offered the opportunity to “sign on the dotted line?”

I’m glad to share what information I have. My son submitted his housing application right after he was accepted I think around November or December. It was free so no harm no foul. They did not offer him a specific room. He got the offer from his UK student email; so if your student has not set that up they should do that right away. The email was from the Greenhouse Residential College. I will attempt to post it below; I’m not the best at computers so sorry if this is too long. But here it is:

I did call them and the lady I spoke to said if my son did not accept that he would not necessarily get another LLP offer. When he went in to sign the agreement there was an acceptance or declination button and also a button that said something like, “I decline this LLP but am interested in other LLPs” However, my son is so eager to live in the new dorms he felt like accepting this dorm (his third choice) was the best option for him. He carefully read over the requirements and feels like it will be a good fit for him. Hope this helps Napermom!

Thank you. This is very helpful. D is worried about the extra class that is required as a part of the LLPs. She had been thinking about Wired, but did not apply. Maybe a mistake? As the application is available until 4/1, I guess it is not a possibility anymore.

The extra class for the Greenhouse Dorm, aka Woodland Glens 2, is a one hour class. However, my son signed up for classes at merit weekend; and the two times this one hour class is offered is going to conflict with his schedule. I am not sure how they will handle that. Did all the LLPs have deadlines?

My D will need to do a schedule change. They did not let her sign up for the correct math class during Merit Weekend, as her AP exam results will not be available until July. I assume that your S will need to do a schedule change also to incorporate the LLP class. D is nervous about having to drop the science class that she is signed up to take, as it is not offered often, though neither is the math class. Trying to fit in a LLP class was one of the things that made her lean away from the LLP.

I am not sure about the LLP deadlines. I also cannot tell if 4/1 was a deadline, or a priority date. So much has changed from what was online at the beginning of this school year. Also, some information is conflicting, such as the locations of the LLPs. When she signed up for housing, the new locations were not yet indicated.

Hi @kyproud.my son is seriously considering u.of k. He has fantastic offer there as well.what do you know about the school?
