College Park? No.

You'll want to spend the rest of your time there (60 credits) and bring your GPA up if you want a shot at CP.

i heard 3.0 was the magic number for transfer students

Well, for CP it is the minimum required GPA. For 2005, Maryland accepted 63% of transfer applicants, and I doubt 37% of the people applying had less than 3.0, though it is a possibility. Which likely means that people even with 3.0s were rejected.

So no, I wouldn't call 3.0 the magic number.

yeah soo im kinda screwed well what do you think about penn state and VT and UDEL i ment to ask before and i dont wanna make another thread

Hmm. I really dunno about those schools. Since they're out of state, I'd imagine Penn State and VT would be harder or just as hard as CP for you. I'm not sure how tough UDel is to get into, but I think it's easier than the other three schools you're looking at, so I'd definitely apply.

If you can get yourself up to a 3.0, you should at least give UMaryland a shot.

I am deff gonna apply for UM i spent a week writting the two essays. I think there pretty good soo we will see but really i am hoping to get some miles out the the eagle scout.

As for VT and Penn state I have always felt from reading and talking to people that they are alot easier to get in to than MD. My dad went to VT so that might help a tiny bit. I really dont know.

Any one else ?

I'd say VT is a huge reach, if not rejection. I know it sounds rough, but VT is not an easy school anymore. Its engineering has brought up the school as a whole, and the science curriculum is very strong. On its website it specifically says that it requires a 2.5 minimum, but you should have a 3.0 to be considered competative. I agree with brand, stick it out another year and then transfer. 3.0 is the magic number for all of those schools.

shoebox goes to vermont by the way, right?

Wait, what? I thought he's a Hokie.

I guess ill apply and see what happens. I mean it cant hurt to apply twice right. Iv been at my current college for two years now. I guess if i have to stay longer I will. any one else how about penn state?

maybe I dunno. just tryin to start trouble.

EDIT: That's not really a good thing that you've been at your CC for two years and only have 38 credits...just FYI. A legacy at VT is good and makes it worth a shot.

aside from every thing else. Im gonna apply. Even if it takes me forever im going to be successful end of story.

Thanks guys for the advice it really does help

skifast87 i live in hoco too!
you should def apply to umd but delaware is a lot easier to get into if you wanna look there too

You should also definitely apply to UMBC and Towson, where I think you would have a good shot, and even to easier out of state schools like Indiana U.

O, and I'm from MoCo, by the way :).

Hey im applying to UMCP too

haha ok

1- i am a hokie...hopefully a cavalier here soon =P

2- im a chick...just fyi...its the only thing ive got going well for me to get into UVA engineering

3- i interpreted VT as Virginia Tech, since he applied to UMd and Penn State, both of which have good technical programs...oops if he meant vermont

4- if he meant vermont, i dont know much about that school, so nvm on the post. If he meant Virginia Tech, then yes, reject...sorry, we're not a bunch of stupid hicks here

No way he gets into VT. The lowest transfer GPA ive seen here is 3.2. UMD will accept you before VT will because of your instate status. My ex-girlfriend was accepted to UMD, James Madison, and George Mason with a 2.8.

So i was at the mall last night when my phone rang. It was my father he said there was a large envelope on the counter from university of Maryland under grad admission. So i jumped right back in to my car. Raced home. and well to make a long story short. I GOT IN :) :) :) so i am pretty happy about that. I think thats where i want to end up going any way. As far as UDEL and VT i have not heard back yet but i will be sure to let you know.
