University of Maryland chances

SATS:

Verbal: 560
Math: 600
Writing: 630
Essay: 10 ......UMD only accepts verbal and math, which combined is 1160.

I have an 88 gpa, which comes out to about a 3.5-3.6. I go to a fairly competitive private school. My extracirruculars are pretty good and my college essay was one of the best essays I've ever written hahah.

I applied in early october and am still waiting to hear back. Do my chances look good?

I have also applied to...

University of Delaware
Towson University
University of Virginia (a reach, i know)
Catholic University
American University
Penn State - got in, not to University Park
James Madison University
Rutgers - got in
Rider - got in

feel free to comment on the others as well! please, be as honest as possible ! :)

bumppppp...!

I don't know much, but UMD is very difficult to get into (even for undergraduate). Seeing as you did get into Penn State, I would assume you might get into UM. I know they are highly competitive though and really look for the best of the best. For graduate school they will not take anyone in Econ without a 800 in the Math section of the GREs. Good luck!

Oh you are probably going to get into UD, I would be shocked if you didn't. (I live in MD, and know UD pretty well as well.)

"I don't know much, but UMD is very difficult to get into (even for undergraduate). Seeing as you did get into Penn State, I would assume you might get into UM."

He didn't get into Penn State, he go into a branch campus. Penn State University Park and UMCP have similar admissions standards, but the branch campuses are a lot easier to get into. I think he has a shot at Delaware, but I don't see Maryland happening.

are you in maryland or OOS?

if you're in maryland, you might have a good chance, if you aren't, it might be hard

Maryland may be a long shot, especially the GPA part.
Towson and Delaware you should get in.
Don't know enough about the others to give a real opinion.

Maryland does a thing where they accept people for spring insead of fall. You may be accepted for that. I go to Maryland, but when I was applying alot of people with similar stats to yours (some even better) were accepted for the following spring instead.

if you are OOS, i don't think so.

listen to butterflykisses, UMD does spring admissions. i know like a hundred people spending their first semester at a CC and starting at Maryland in the spring.

that's actually what happen to all the people at my school who applied last year. 7 applied, one was rejected and 6 were admitted for the spring semester. does anyone think it's worth it to wait until spring?

University of Delaware- match
Towson University- match
University of Virginia (a reach, i know)- huge reach
Catholic University- reach
American University- reach
James Madison University- match

Maryland is a definite reach but you can maybe do it

id say no, sat's kinda low

yea id agree with the person above.
sats are low
and gpa is even lower
sorry man

i'm still hoping. i have heard of a few people with around the same stats who have gotten in.
what does everyone think of the spring admission? is it worth the wait?

hey
i applied to umd as my backup
my sats are only like 300 points higher
and my gpa is around a 3.8

umd has been recrutiing me for lacrosse. but im not sure because im still waiting to hear from boston college, holy cross, lehigh, and virginia.
who knows? maybe well end up goin to the same school next year ed.
