@bjr829
Hi ! Did your letter have an * after aerospace? Still trying to figure out what that means!
@bestmanager1 Yes, I think it means Limited Enrollment Program.
@STEM2017 hello again, if you read over what I posted earlier you can see that I was genuinely curious as to how they would miss āIncomplete submissionā on their Coalition checklist. This was before I read that their Coalition profiles actually said they were 100% complete. This is definitely not an error on the applicantās part, and my two cents was that it could likely be attributed to the Coalition interface, which my school counselors also had issues with.
Hope this clarifies. I assure you it was not meant out of malice or some superiority complex because I was on the phone with admissions clarifying the same issue at one point.

daughter was accepted to Letter of Arts and Science although she applied for business. She was invited to the Carillon community as well. OOS. GPA 4.2 SAT 1390. I was surprised frankly that she didnāt get into Smithā¦ She got into other comparable business programs. Does anyone know if she should " follow-up" and see if there is a wait list of some sort?
Can someone please explain to me what it means to be admitted to Letters & Sciences? I applied for aerospace engineering, and I know that it is limited enrollment but what is Letters and sciences exactly?
This release procedure is very stressful for those who didnāt receive a decision tonight. My Dās application was 100% complete on October 27. In-state.
@hannah1789 Letters and sciences means you were accepted to UMD but not to your major. Itās basically UMDās version of Undecided.
Now you have a choice to make. Whatās more important to you? UMD or aerospace engineering?
@bpsulliv - UMD does have Admitted Student Days. They call them an Admitted Student Open House. As I recall, they start near the end of February. I think you will get an email about them, but there will be a link somewhere on the Admissions website soon. They require per-registration and can fill up fast. I recommend that at least one parent also attend
@STEM2017 but canāt I apply again for that major after the first year or something?
A lot of information can be found by googling UMD and the name of what you are looking for
@hannah1789 Yes you can. But itās very difficult.
I donāt want to give you any misinformation. You really should call admissions on Monday with a list of questions.
Maybe they could reconsider you for mechanical or industrial engineering, but Iām not sure how it works.
Good luck!
Son accepted! Fall 2019 with invite to FIRE. Psychology* major in College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Weād like to learn more about FIRE program. Can anyone offer info?
OOS
ACT 34
wGPA 3.8

Lots of ECs including XC captain
He loves UMD but we are hopeful for scholarship money.
@STEM2017 thank you so much for your help :))
I was kinda triggerd by the fact i got into scholars, not honorsā¦ i had 1470 SAT, 4.72 and 3.86 GPA, and etcā¦ kinda sad
are there others who have not received decisions yet, and whose coalition applications show 100% complete / nothing missing? and for those who are just now posting decisions, were they just received? will any more decisions be released tonight?
@bjr829 I donāt think so. Another kid was admitted to Environmental Science and Policy (also limited) and no *.
Those with questions about the Limited Enrollment Programs, particularly those that did not get into the program they applied to, should review the UMD website for additional information. Those who did not get in can apply to their major in the future. Also there is a specific email that you can use to get LEP questions answered: lep@umd.edu.
Current Students (Internal Transfer Admits): Internal transfers are students already at the University of Maryland who would like to change majors to an LEP. Students currently attending the University of Maryland, College Park who wish to switch to a Limited Enrollment Program (LEP) or add an LEP as a second major can submit an LEP application.
