@sd458829 You are very qualified, I know people who got into the Smith school last year with far worse resumes; nothing’s guaranteed though, but I’d give you a strong chance.

in-state kids like yourself @sd458829 should honestly take it a little easy. your states are competitive from OOS but they give heavy in-state preference and you’re well above the applicant average pool. don’t sweat it

What time Friday are we thinking?

@jdecker9 Thanks man! Best of luck to you!

@Ezga3969 Thank you so much!

@whiteice67 How likely is it going to be released on Friday?

I’m getting anxious as the deadlines are coming out soon what are my chances of getting in?
I’m in state
Took mostly all AP and Honors classes in high school
Class rank is 50 out of 354
Weighted GPA is 4.2
SAT is 1200
Played varsity sports in all four years of high school
My intended major is journalism and I have experience working for a newspaper

@sd458829 in answer to your earlier question about English, since you sent an email notifying them of the error, I wouldn’t sweat it. I honestly wouldn’t expect them to have responded, so don’t read anything into it.

can someone please chance me!!
Unweighted gpa: 3.4 Weighted 3.7
ACT: 30
A few honors, pretty good grades
good extra curriculum

@hotdog1234 what’s your class ranking? Extracurriculars?

Is it true that UMD has a higher acceptance rate for out-of students?

*out of state students

@sd458829 - 70 percent of the student body must be in-state students, per a Board of Regents policy.

@SoofDad so more preference for in-state?

@sd458829 - Basically, yes. UMD is supported by Maryland taxpayers and UMD is required to educate Maryland students. Many other states have similar policies. For example, North Carolina is required to have 85% instate students, the last time I checked.

My school doesn’t do class ranking and vice president of a club, involved in a lot of volunteering and other clubs, lacrosse, and soccer. My aunt went there if that helps anything
