<p>I am attending University of Maryland-College Park starting this fall. Does anybody have any information regarding the social scene?? I have heard they have a great social scene, and I have also read in a few places that it is horrible! Any info would help!</p>

<p>Well, it’s a party school. And it was ranked the second school for “students study the least” on Princeton Review, if you put any sort of stock in that.</p>

<p>I would assume the social scence is good on campus, though I heard the area that it reside in is not safe.</p>

<p>Yeah, College Park itself is VERY sketchy and there isn’t anything around… my sister and I drove around for almost an hour just trying to find someplace cheap but decent to eat. However, this is somewhat negated because College Park has its own metro stop into DC.</p>

<p>There must be 20 places to eat along Route 1 Baltimore Ave and there is a great restaurant Franklins in Hyattsville which is a 5 minute drive. The area is safe, kind of an urbanized suburb.</p>

<p>Great social scene… at least the parties that I’ve been to have been amazing</p>

<p>Maryland is quite selective and has excellent academics. Those are the important things.</p>

<p>collegehelp, the atmosphere is also important, if you don’t feel safe or if you don’t feel comfortable with the partying, then it is just as great of a reason not to pick a school</p>

<p>I don’t see a major difference. These are 2007 stats. Stats fluctuate from year to year.
May depend on enforcement policies.</p>
