Ok I'm starting to get desperate. Has anyone heard from UMDCP yet? I know admissions are on a rolling basis, so how long did it take for them to give you a decision? Also, stats? Mine aren't too great, but I'm coming from Ga Tech so it's to be expected.

I submitted my application on February 28th, and have not heard anything. Having been five weeks since then now, I definitely thought I would have gotten an email by now to check my decision. And also my checklist says they have everything so…I don’t know. I might give them a call this week if I don’t hear from them Monday or Tuesday.

I applied then, too. It took a few days for the transcript to post though. I emailed them March 1 to amend my application and they emailed me a confirmation about two weeks later, so I know they are busy. I read somewhere that people were later asked to send in Spring semester final transcripts to help decide admission, I assume because they weren’t comparatively bad enough to be rejected, but not good enough to be accepted. Let me know what they say if you call/if you get a decision. I supposed there’s two more weeks before I should be worried.

I sent in my application and all the required documents back in January. Still haven’t heard anything but I called 2 weeks ago and they said decisions hadn’t been released yet for transfers. They should be released between late march to mid-april, at least according to the person I spoke to. =( Can’t wait! UMDCP is my first choice!

I submitted my application and materials early February and received an acceptance letter about three weeks ago; however, my girlfriend submitted her materials at the same time and hasn’t received any word from them.

Still it took them a long time to get back to me (about 2 months).

Alright, so they definitely do not have a ‘system’ for the release of their decisions. I guess I, too, will wait a couple more weeks before I contact them.

my friend and i submitted our applications in late february and have not heard back yet. for those who have been accepted what were your gpas, number of credits, and residency status (ie from maryland or oos)

I’m an Out-of-state applicant…

College Grades
-3.88 GPA at a Florida public four year university with broad class selection including lots of mathematics, sciences, and humanities
-Applying with 52 Credits (will transfer with 61)

High School Grades
-Around 2.7 unweighted, 3.0 weighted GPA (although a complete guess probably lower)
-SAT: Did not send; abysmal
-I was lazy and an athlete who has matured and changed goals

Other
-Wrote the essay in about 15 minutes and didn’t send letters of recommendation.
-Raising $2,500 for Push America
-Riding a bicycle for 800 miles to help raise awareness for people with disabilities.
-Student Ambassador
-Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, held various director positions
-Part-time job working around 24 hours a week

Accepted…

Although my longtime girlfriend, as I mentioned has not received word. Waiting on UNC which is my number one choice.

3.9 gpa from maryland cc. accepted within 2 weeks of submition. if u have any questions, just pm

i have a 3.7ish gpa from maryland cc and also accepted within 2 weeks of submission (but not directly into the smith business school).

my friend has a 3.29 gpa, psi chi, national honors society, maryland camp counselor, and umd legacy (mother went to umd). Maryland is her number 1 choice. do you think she will get in ?

I think she will. I don’t know why they are taking so long to release decisions. Most people with above a 3.0 will have a good shot.

if she has gets her associates, then ya she has a decent shot. isnt the average gpa for MD 3.5?

This is bizarre that they are taking so long with decisions.
@bquin21 - I’m waiting to hear from UNC as well. The wait is driving me nuts.

i’m glad you guys are all in the same boat because it’s really been stressing me out that it’s taking so long. I applied before March 1st, out of state. This is the only school i applied priority for and i really just want know so i can stop filling out regular admission applications now (if i get in)

Yeah don’t cc people in Maryland get accepted, no question? It kind of looks like they’re accepting people with high gpas/strong applications quickly, but for those with around/below a 3.5 waiting until they can compare them with the applicant pool. I don’t know though.

Oh also, I’ve seen people mention they sent in recommendations, but I never saw anywhere that recommendations were asked for. They also aren’t mentioned on the checklist. Am I missing something big here?

Recommendations are optional. My friend didn’t send one because she was rushing to meet the deadline. And btw she is transferring to mud from a four year institution.

I thought i read somewhere that they don’t take rec letters for transfers? On their application checklist it says that submitting a resume of academic and extracurricular activities is optional, but it doesn’t mention letters. This made me think that they wouldn’t even look at them if you submitted them.

I didnt send one in. Don’t think its required at all.
