I'll be starting at the university of maryland next fall for Pre Med, and just wanted to get some opinions/experiences from the program. Is the advising office helpful? How are the Pre Med Courses/Professors? Do alot of students get accepted to Medical School? Any responses appreciated, thanks.

OP, what’s your major? Are you in the Honors College?

Ill be in scholars, and my major is either mechanical engineering or bioengineering, still can’t decide

I just wanted to throw in my two cents even though I am not at UMD (yet; class of 2015 possible). I have known of people who have gone to Harvard, Duke, Vanderbilt, and Penn Medical Schools as University of Maryland graduates. I can’t speak for anything else, but that’s what I know. I expect that acceptances to top medical schools from UMD will go up as the type of students who are going there are getting better and better over the years.

don’t do engineering as a premed. first of all there really is no point, and also your grades will naturally be low because of the major which puts you at a disadvantage for med school
