@hanna935 @FlyFlydos That is some serious BS. I sent my transcript in before I applied too and the online app confirmed it reached before March 1st. Not only that but any mailed material like transcripts is usually dated by the postmark for admissions purposes. Even Virginia Tech took my transcript when they got it two days late. [bureaucratic facepalm] Maryland better be worth my troubles.

I’m not sure if my question can be answered here, but I figure it’s worth asking because the advisors at Maryland have been quiet on the matter so far.

I am a student at Montgomery College intending to transfer to Maryland to get a BS in physics. However, the information at http://www.tce.umd.edu/tclookup.html seems to indicate that MC’s physics courses transfer only as physics for engineers courses and aren’t a part of Maryland’s requirements for a physics major.

Does anyone know if this is the case? If it is, does anyone know if there’s a way to bypass Maryland’s freshman and sophomore physics classes so that I would be able to enter as a junior? Alternatively, does anyone know who I would talk to at Maryland about getting this sorted out?

I appreciate any information that can be provided. Thank you.

Hello,
Alright, so my situation is a bit complicated, so I will try to sum it up as quickly as possible.

My statistics are as follows:

-took 1 ap senior year (english) and honors english fr-jr year
-Honors concert band

-worked as a waitress and instrument rental
-member of trim music honors society
-member of student council
-class officer

–College
-Public Relations Major
-4 year private university

-3.95 second semester gpa
-kind of “eh” essay on transfer app
-Quality letter of recommendation from Yale professor

The reason I am still waiting on my decision is because I had to take my required math second semester so they told me I would be receiving a decision late june early July.

What do you guys think? Do I have any chance?

If I transfer from Anne Arundel Community college with a degree and over 70 credits ( certificate too) does that consider guaranteed in because I’m instate and theres a plan?

Ok, So I just applied to UMCP as a transfer from a University in Pennsylvania, where I am from. I have 68 Credits, and my GPA is a 3.38 but it should be over a 3.4 by the end of this semester. I re-took some classes, but I have all As and Bs now, and I am Hispanic. What are the chances of me getting in?

I am an instate student with a 3.2 and 60 credits completed. I’m told that my gpa/credit combination basically guarantees acceptance, but my issue is that I applied after the priority deadline for spring. Sadly, I feel that the date my application processed will be the only factor in my acceptance, not my actual merits. I’m just wondering whether I am incorrect about the impact of applying after the priority deadline?

Nima7767,

they should’ve sent out acceptance letters yesterday by 5pm. Did you get yours yet?

Hi all,

I’m a student at an in-state Community College whose reading these posts with mixed emotions (I’ll read one post and think I’m sure to be rejected, but then I’ll read another post and think that I might not be so boned). Basically I was wondering if someone could gauge my chances (honestly, please don’t hold anything back, and be as brutal as you can).

Stats:
Maryland Community College GPA: 3.41 w/ 15 credits
-9 credits in the summer of 2012
-6 credits in the fall of 2012
-12 planned credits for the spring of 2013
GPA had an upward trend from about a 3.1 to a 3.5
Nuclear family all graduated College Park
SAT: 1910 w/ 660 Math, 650 Reading, and a 600 Writing
Essay: Confident in the essay’s ability to capture me
E.C.: Lots of community service, Eagle scout, some drama in High School
Residence: Maryland resident of course!

P.S. I took 10 credits at the same Community College I now attend, senior year (2011-12) with jumpstart program

Thanks so much for any help, good luck to everyone whose applying, FEAR THE TURTLE!

I would be surprise if you never get into UMCP. It might not happen until you get your AA but I be surprised if you don’t get accepted at some point. I would apply for sure.

I posted awhile back because I have been wondering if I will get accepted or not. It has been two months since I applied. I applied on Nov. 15, and I have sent my transcript twice now. I have called and emailed the university twice each, and I check everyday to see if I got accepted or not, but my application is still pending they say. I have a 3.4 GPA and I have 84 credits as of now, and I am Hispanic, but I am trying to get into their Speech Pathology program. Will I get accepted? Why is it taking them so long to reply back to my emails, and make a decision? I asked them to switch my application to Fall now too…but they have not said anything about that either…

Hey Leila23, did you get in?
