University of Maryland vs. Bentley College

I've gotten into both and I'm having a tough time deciding. I want to major in business, probably finance or marketing. I like both a lot but I need someone to help sway me in a certain direction.

I recently visited UMD and liked it a lot. Campus was pretty awesome, facilities seemed modern and nice and it's probably best school ranking-wise of the two.

I liked Bentley also for similar reasons. Nice campus, but obviously much smaller. Convenient location to Boston (same with UMD and D.C.).

I did not receive money for any; UMD and Bentley are both the same distance away. UMD is 10 degrees warmer than where I live, Bentley is slightly colder.

Main things I'm concerned with are social life job placement/recruitment. I would think Maryland is more well known that Bentley.

Any opinions? Thank you, any help is appreciated.

U Maryland College Park?
It is one of the best publics in the country. I would choose it over Bentley for just about every reason. Mostly, the students at Maryland are a lot better.

Yea, that's what I thought. It's just a better school academically. Any other opinions?

bump. thanks again btw.

How much will each school cost net of scholarships? Also, would Maryland be in-state for you?

There are a number of factors. Both have strong business programs. However, University of Maryland won't usually admit you to their business program unless you achieve at least a 3.0 ( and it maybe higher nowadays) in your freshmen and sophomore year, while Bentley admits you to your major immediately.
Secondly, I taught at Maryland. Frankly, I didn't think that Maryland was a great school. For example, It isn't AACSB accredited ,which is a big deal if you apply to certain graduate programs. Bentley is AACSB accredited.

Maryland is cuting back on programs due to state budget cuts. We have this idiotic governor who decided not to raise tuition. That may sound good, but in order to balance the budget and save money, he has cut back a lot on programs.

UMD is on that list.

I'm out of state for both but money is not too much of an issue. My parents have saved up for college.

And yea, I'm in Letters and Sciences (undecided) at Maryland and I applied for transfer for majors to see if I can get into Maryland already in the Business program. I heard you have to work pretty hard to get into the business program if you go in undecided.

How recently did you teach at Maryland? Why didn't you think it was a good school?

Thank you.

bump. And I believe it is accredited, says so on its site:

http://www.rhsmith.umd.edu/undergrad/prospectivestudents.html

Second paragraph down.

Funny, as late as last year, University of Maryland wasn't AACCB accredited. It is now, so I was in error.

bump, please any help is appreciated.

Blur930, I taught there in the late 80's early 90's.

Maryland is a good school;however, with state universities being subject to the vageries of budget cuts, I would go to Bentley over Maryland if cost is about even. We have an idiotic governor in O'Malley who has cut funding to Maryland under the guise of keeping tuition constant.

Also, Bentley tends to give out better grades than Maryland. Maryland has to make room for community college kids; thus, they really don't care if 10-20% flunk out. This isn't true for Bentley who REALLY tries hard to keep the kids and make sure they understand that material as to be able to pass.

bump.

any more input anyone?
