University of Maryland vs Georgia Tech for Business

I am having trouble deciding which college would be better to go to. Both schools are OOS and are around the same price. I am majoring in business. The business program at UMD is slightly better than GTech, but GTech has a better overall reputation.

I had already accepted my offer to UMD, but was accepted to GTech off the waitlist yesterday.

I want to know if it is worth switching schools now. Which college would offer me more opportunities for internships and jobs? Which college would look more impressive? Which school is better for business?

Which do you like better? I don’t think GaTech has a better reputation than UMd. Does one have a study abroad program you like better? A sports team you’d like to cheer for? A course that particularly caught your attention?

As an overall university, GT has a better reputation. I don’t know about UMD specifically, but GT has an excellent co-op program and is recruited very heavily by a lot of top companies. Plus being in a major city is also going to help from a recruiting standpoint.

So you don’t consider Washington DC (a 15 minute metro ride from the UMD-CP campus) a major city?

I would agree and argue that Georgia Tech doesn’t have an overall better reputation than the University of Maryland. They have about equal name recognition. UMD students are also recruited by a lot of top companies. (One note about GT is that Atlanta is difficult to navigate around without a car. The public transit system isn’t anything like Northeastern cities’. So internships may be more difficult to get to than you might think, unless OP is bringing a car to Atlanta or happens to get lucky with an internship that’s right on the same bus lines or very close to a MARTA station.)

So I’d say neither looks significantly more impressive than the other, or has significantly more opportunities for internships and jobs, and both are great for business. So you should probably just pick whichever one is more affordable and/or whichever one you see yourself attending more in terms of atmosphere, student body, location, etc.
