Looking for BFA Acting students who applied, attended, and/or graduated from UMiami. It would be great to get some personal feedback from parents and students on the University of Miami's BFA Acting program for S's descision making process. If you were accepted to the University of Miami, did you choose to go? Why? Or why did you choose not to go and where did you go instead? Also is there some competition between FSU and UMiami? And if you are studying MT at UMiami, your point of view is very welcomed too! Do the BM degree students and the Drama students work together? Most important are you happy? Is it everything you expected? Thank you.

Hi there. I am currently a BFA Acting Major at UM. I actually transfered here from Marymount Manhattan College in NYC. I transfered here because it is a competitive and close-knit conservatory program, the faculty is amazing, and the academics keep you working hard to make you more competitive in all fields. There is no competition that I know between FSU and UMiami as far as theatre goes. I actually started as MT and switched to Acting to pick up a film minor. A downside? There is currently no acting for the camera class (though we are working on it). An upside? The film school here is great and student films are always casting (if you are interested in acting in film). Currently, the BM program is being discontinued, though those who are already in that program do work with us and take all the same classes. I am super happy. I mean, I wish the facilities were a bit nicer, that the actual program had more funding, and that there was more of a connect btw the film school and the THA dept, but overall, it’s a great program. Bruce Miller (head of acting) is one of the smartest, most articulate teachers I’ve ever had, and he really knows how to teach the craft of acting. Even if you don’t come here, I would suggest checking out some of his books on Amazon. If you have anymore specific questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m happy to help :-)

My son has still not heard from this school! Is he the only one??
