Hello hello...I was doing some searching through the forums and I couldn't find a whole lot of information about miami's bs/md. I am considering applying to it next year but would like to narrow down my college list.

The University of Miami isn't a really prestigious undergrad school: it's academics aren't that great and its endowment is pretty meager. The medical school isn't in the top 50 in research or primary care by US News standards.

Besides the guaranteed acceptance into med school, what are the advantages of this program? People on the forums always say that "the program is good"? What is that supposed to mean? Can you elaborate on what exactly "the program" is, and why it's better than the traditional route via a prestigious undergrad university and medical school?

If the only advantage of Miami's program is early assurance, I would rather go to a better undergrad school and then take my chances at a better medical school. But, if the so called "program" and its components are really that good, I will really consider applying.
