University of Miami Scholarship

I am currently a high school senior and looking to apply to UM. I have 4.5 weighted and 3.9 unweighted and in the top 10% of my class. I also have a 33 on my act. How much scholarship money would I receive?

I’m also involved in varsity athletics, Journalism, coaching, and other extracurriculars.

My son had stats similar to yours and received a presidential scholarship of $26,000/year.

Whatever you’re awarded will be applied to “need”. If you’re high income and “full freight”, then the merit will reduce what your family has to spend.

If you have “need” then the award will get applied to need.

How much merit do you need? How much will your family pay?

Why don’t you run the Net Price Calculator on their web site?

Check UM’s scholarship website. I believe they have the minimum GPA, class rank, and SAT/ACT cutoffs for the various scholarships (and the amount of each scholarship).

Also, if you’re a FL resident and money is any problem at all, I would consider going to UF over UM since you’ll most likely get a full tuition scholarship at UF through Bright Futures. Since UF and UM have very similar academic reputations (they rank essentially the same on US News), I would only consider UM over UF if you either can get also a full tuition scholarship at UM (and this is less certain since UM’s standards to get a full tuition scholarship is probably much higher than was is needed to get Bright Futures), or there is a combined program that you get at one school but not the other.
