Is it true that university of miami may become one of the really good universities in like a few years ?
and what do you think of university of miami?

it is a really good university.

President Donna Shalala is working very hard to turn Miami into an even better University than it already is. In 2007 she recruited the head of the Wharton business school undergraduate program to come and head up Miami’s fine business program. They also have top notch schools of music, communications and marine sciences (among others). They also give very generous merit scholarships.

Thats nice to hear. So it actually does have a good reputation and it might have a chance to become a reallyy highly respected university am I right ?
Anyway thank you for the feedback I appreciate it.

Everyone talks about the “TOP 50” Universities.

University of Miami is ranked #51 in U.S. News and World Report.

^ I think its #50

I got accepted, but had to turn it down due to the lack of aid.

i really want to go to Miami but i fear my GPA will be too low.

i got accepted with a 3.42 cumulative and a 3.34 core

ehh, i heard its nice…the campus is a little “trashy” though

Have you ever been there? Definitely NOT trashy!

[U. of Miami tops ‘Playboy’ party-school list - On Deadline - USATODAY.com](http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2009/04/u-of-miami-tops-playboy-partyschool-list.html)

The University of Miami is much less of a party school than your average University. The Greek scene is much smaller and the parties are off campus. They have not been at the top of anyone’s party list recently until Playboy came out with their ridiculous new list. They used things like “average days of sunshine” and “brains” to calculate the #1. Look at the list, most of the top schools are in sunny locales. And what brains has to do with partying I’ll never understand. They even have many “substance free” floors in one of the the freshman dorms that are very popular. So much so that this year’s freshman lobbied the adminstration to extend substance free to the upperclassmen’s dorms and were successful.

Several at my school turned Emory down for full rides at Miami. Smart girls, too. From what I’ve seen, the school does a good job attracting very high quality students with merit aid.

The University of Miami was one of several schools my son considered. We visited the campus and it gave us the feeling of visiting a resort. It is beautiful!

My son was offered a very generous scholarship and it was one of his top choices, though he ended up at UF.

In areas where its curriculum is strong, the University of Miami could be a great choice.

The campus is NOT trashy…it is absolutely beautiful in its own way. The campus may not be the classic college style but it is actually the 3rd most beautiful college I’ve seen, next to Georgetown and Villanova.

Wow! Personally I’d keep my skeptical meter set to high.

I attended UofM only long enough to get out many years ago. It was stupendously bad. Poor teachers, poor classes, poor guidance but one helluva football team (really, helicopters, dignitary visits, news reporters the works). At the time a school for rich kids with no ambition and poor grades.

I’m glad to hear folks think it’s improved but I would try to get references, check the exact school your interested in, and see if you can find any graduates working in your chosen field, before going.

The campus was beautiful, and of course there’s Miami.
