University Of Miami

howdy all,

wondering if i could get a sense of what my chances are getting into UM early decision.

FR GPA: 3.57(weighted)
SOPH GPA: 3.54 (weighted)

I transferred to a much harder school junior yr and had a 3.08 GPA. My current school does not weight GPA. Thats why it looks like a big drop-off. However, both schools have a hard grading scale:

A(4.0)=93-100
B(3.0)=85-92
C(2.0)=77-84
D(1.0)=70-76

My GPA would be a lot higher at other schools.

I have 6 honors courses and 2 AP's. CR SAT=540, Math SAT=570 (1110 combined.) Should get good recs, did a lot of activities and volunteer work, went on a summer service trip, and did 2 academic programs abroad.

what do you guys think?

Im not to familiar with UMiami but I think you have a decent chance.

chance back?

Miami of ohio? or florida?

Miami of Florida. Sorry should have specified that

bump please respond!

bump…anyone else?

As you probably know, in spite of its party reputation, Miami is a tough school to get into. The most recent data shows that 76% of incoming students have an unweighted GPA of 3.75 or higher. Your weighted GPA is somewhere around 3.3; I’m guessing your UW GPA is closer to 3.0, that would put you in the lowest 5%. Your SATs are also below the 25th%-tile. ED works best for recruited athletes, URMs and applicants whose profiles are closer to the 50th%-tile (or better) of all the statistics. I think you are looking at a rejection.

my uw GPA for all 3 yrs is a 3.26. I know it looks like a long shot but i think my activities will really help me.

bumpppppp.

WILL CHANCE BACK!

come on people please?!

WILL CHANCE BACK!
