University of Michigan Ann Arbor Class of 2022 Early Action

.

Having just gone through this and accepted LSA, here is my advice to the incoming pool of EA applicants.

  1. Very few are accepted EA but applying EA demonstrates interest. So don't let a deferral that arrives just before Christmas ruin your holiday.
  2. Yes. There is more than one version of a deferral letter - and ANY one of them can result in acceptance. Do not read into them or you will be exhausted by April.
  3. Send a Letter of Continued of Interest (LOCI) to your regional admissions counselor just before your 7th semester grades are released. Update them of your activity/accomplishments since your application was submitted. (They may be added to application on your behalf).
  4. Repeat #2. There is more than one version of a LOCI response - and ANY one of them can result in acceptance. Do not read into them or you will be exhausted by April.
  5. Be prepared to wait A LONG TIME between when you hit the send button and when you get an answer. Hopefully it will be the one you want. If it isn't, you will already have something else in the works come April that more than likely, was meant to be anyways.

Best of luck to the class of 2022 from the class of 2021.

Go Blue!

isnt it a tad bit too early to make this thread? but i just wanna say it’s april 6th and im still waiting for my decision (i was ea/then deferred) so yeah hope that isn’t the case for you guys next year

Also important, umich does take demonstrated interest into consideration, so make those campus visits if possible. Good luck from the umich class of 2021!

My daughter, now a Junior, visited UMich (Dad’s alma mater) as her 1st official college tour when she was just in 8th grade. I wonder if UMich will look that far for records — demonstration of interest

^^

Does a sibling attending Umich and Uncle working there count as Legacy if so how much does that help?

When should we hear from UM if applied early action?

@brazos21

do they send an email or a physical letter if with ea decisions

Im applying EA does anyone know what the easiest school to get into is? Ive heard kinesiology. I have bad SATs and a really high gPA

My D applied EA yesterday. What is the next step? Do we get any acknowledgement from Michigan? When do we get access to Michigan portal? Could someone please respond? I appreciate your help

@bsmsrph The Office of Admissions will notify her through email that they received her application (I received an email about 4 days after I applied). In the email they include your U-M ID number. Your D needs to create a “Friend Account” because she’ll need to be able to check her application status and keep track of her supplemental materials.

@TACOBOO , thank you so much for your response.

I applied on Sunday (10/29) and haven’t received a confirmation email/my UM ID number. Is this normal? Will I receive a verification before Nov 1 so I can know for a fact they got my application?

BTW I applied on October 8th and got my confirmation email on the 12th

My D sent her EA application on Oct 22, I think she got the email with her id etc. 3-4 days later. She received an email today from the SMTD with her audition date! It’s getting real. Good luck everyone.

Under my UMich portal, under test scores, it says “Not received.” I sent my scores on the night of October 26th. Do you think I made the EA deadline (11:59 Nov 1) and that the website just hasn’t updated yet, or am I screwed? ACT score btw

did anyone get an interview option? D18 just received an email about HAIL.

Hi. I applied to UM and am confused. They don’t ask you to declare a major. When I checked my portal it said undeclared LSA. In the areas of interest though I put psychology. Does Michigan work differently? I want to major in psych do when will I declare it? Just a tad bit confused.
