University of Michigan Ann Arbor Class of 2022 Early Action

There is more information here and read about prospective students. As Billcho said it sounds like a summer bridge program. It is 6 weeks in the summer and then follow you your first two years with academic support and opportunities. Think of this as a positive not a negative. I am sure this is voluntary on your part but since you have some time you might as well look this over with your parents and discuss. I would even just call the department and ask questions.

@KES2022 My daughter received the same email. She is in the top 1200 MI students accepted (per the Regent’s Scholarship award) so I don’t think it is intended for students who they feel may struggle without extra support. I am hoping that we get a financial aid package before the March 17th information session so she knows whether it’s worth her time or not.

3js3ks…after reading it again it’s wording is a bit strange but states something about getting the urop research position and getting help with internship opportunities also. Still seems like a good opportunity regardless.

Has anyone gotten a final decision letter without Michigan receiving their mid year report?

@Harper34 Yes.You will see if you check the post on last Friday under the deferred student thread.

3js3ks, thanks for the info about your daughter. I’m OOS so no Regents for me, but my academic record and test scores are pretty decent as well.

I’ll call them after the weekend to find out what it’s about and why I was one of the class of 2002 chosen for it.

Is the regents scholarship only for instate students?

@bsmdstudent101 Yes, it is for in-state students. Anyway, it is a relatively small amount and non-renewable.

@Natalie1227 My son’s deferral letter requested him to have mid-grades sent. Also, his school automatically sends mid-grades to all the student’s applied schools. Eventually they will see your grades and I’m sure it depends on what a not so “outstanding semester” means. People have indicated that they were admitted without sending their grades, too.

Any new Ross acceptances this week?

When should I expect my decision tab to disappear? This Friday?

Hi! My friend sent a LOCI the day after she was deferred (December) and another friend sent a LOCI last week. They have both gotten replies from our school representative, but I have not, and I sent my LOCI three weeks ago. My one friend is convinced that since her and my other friend both got replies and I didn’t that I have probably been accepted. I am probably just finding any reason to think I have been accepted, but is there any truth to this theory?

What are my chances of an acceptance to engineering with a 1420 SAT (790 math) and 3.71 UW GPA?

@NSaltzman You should post it in a different thread. There are a lot of info missing, but your GPA appear low.

is it too late to send a LOCI? my deferral letter said “we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. the most successful candidates send us only what we require.” so im confused is it better to send one or not?

@surrrviving I’d encourage you to send it if UM is an important choice to you. At least you would have tried your best to get in however the result would be.

Does anyone know how far apart the waves of decisions are spaced? Wondering when the next one will be…

@surrrviving Send the LOCI.

I believe the next wave of decisions is this Friday, February 16th. Can someone confirm that please?

@NSaltzman yes, I remember someone wrote that he/she called UM and was told so.
