@zfeldo5 If you have sent them multiple letter then just know that you have done all that you can. Definitely have some back up options in case you are offered waitlist or rejected. Also, remember that you can always transfer to Michigan after 1 year, I know so many people who have done that.
@jmax55 thank you for all your help and information
I was admitted EA but I thought maybe sharing my stuff would (could?) help? Good luck to the remaining of you and congrats to those who have been admitted! To those who are waitlisted: THERE’S STILL A CHANCE! To those who are denied: You will still achieve greatness wherever you end up

@knightstemplar Not to be snarky, but which “better” school did you get into? I only ask as your GPA and SATs do not in any way place you in the “overqualified” category and your ECs are a bit anemic. Especially this year, you qualifications are competitive but nothing more.
Why do people think they are overqualified for UMich?? It is a very competitive school and not a slam dunk for anyone. Michigan I am sure does not want anyone to think of it as a “safety” school, because they know they have tremendous resources and opportunities that are available to students and these resources and opportunities are just as competitive as any top 20 university. While Michigan may not rank in the overall top 20 many of their underlying programs, rank in the top 10!!! That is pretty impressive but if someone can’t get past the National ranking or that they don’t have a below 10% acceptance rate then Michigan should pass them over because they didn’t do their homework and only care about appearances. Perhaps this attitude toward Michigan comes across in their applications or maybe passed on by guidance counselors that certain students do not take them seriously…just my 2 cents.
It is very difficult to change perception! I know many high school students aiming for Northwestern, Cornell consider Michigan will be an easy option for OOS full tution segment. To a great extent, the school guidance counselors are to be blamed for it. Therefore, when a qualified student is either deferred or rejected he/she get very disturbed about it. Hopefully, everybody knows that our admission process has flaws and the element of subjectivity at times overshadow the objective approach needed in the process. It is true for every college and university and Michigan is no exception!
any updates from anyone who has not heard yet? my deferral decision is still there
@zfeldo5 I haven’t heard anything, and I wasn’t deferred. I spoke with someone in the AO yesterday, and they said decisions will continue to be released until mid April. It’s hard being patient!!
Any Ross today? I was accepted to LSA in early Feb. and still haven’t heard back
@collegesavant1 No, didn’t look that way, still waiting here and accepted in December. There is also a thread specific to Ross Pre-Admits if interested.
Does anyone know if Ross students can live in South Quad? One of my admissions documents said that Ross students can’t live in Honors housing, and since I know that South Quad is where the Honors students live I’m not sure. Is it possible for the entire South Quad to be reserved for LSA students?
@Jagomezpr Honors housing is at South Quad but not the whole South Quad is for honors housing. The capacity of SQ is 1170 while LSA honors takes only around 500 students per year. Nevertheless, there is no way to specify a dorm other than get accepted by a residential program. So you cannot request SQ (or any other dorm) but be assigned by the housing office.
anyone else still waiting for a decision? I still am
@zfeldo5 what major are you applying? I was wondering if it has to do with the decision time, because I’m also waiting and I applied for architecture.
@pinusmacbook I applied LSA summer
anyone going for the admitted students reception in NY tomorrow?
^^my parents are but im not because i have to work lol
possibly going to the NYC reception, wondering if any admissions folks will be there, maybe we can learn when the last Ross decisions are going to be out!
Did anyone who confirmed get their housing email yet? If so how long did it take for them to send it?
@Jagomezpr I got accepted on Saturday (4/7) and committed on Sunday (4/8) and got my housing app email yesterday (4/10)
