University of Michigan Ann Arbor Class of 2022 Early Action

@HSLoser Would depend on your major

How about global health?

Tried to log in right now and it says the system is unavailable. Wonder what that means!

I was able to log in just fine

Idk about y’all, but this forum has got me on the edge of seat 24/7. Best of luck to everyone in the coming days

It hit 20% in 2015 and then bounced back to 25% in 2016. The data from last year (2017 freshmen) is not out yet, but from the number of near 50k OOS application, it would be at 20% or below.
The total number of applications last year was almost 60k with near 10k from in-state. The total admission is around 14000. The in-state admission rate is >40% (around 4000 or more), so the OOS admitted students are only up to 10k.

Wait are those figures only referring to the overall admissions acceptance rate? Cuz for EA it’s probably going to be a little higher.

@elzbth omg same situation here! got denied from cornell ED, deferred from UChic EA, and now I’m waiting for this. !! haha

Once we are notified that decisions are up, where on the portal will it say?

It should say under application status, right? Right next to “View Credentials.”

Yeah it will say view decision or something like that

What time of day does UMich tend to release decisions?

@JimFromTheBand Everyone has been saying 3pm EST

@HSLoser I believe UMich would be slightly better than UVA…

Anyone know what time Michigan usually announces that they’re releasing on social media?

@jin2000 The EA admission rate used to be higher when 2/3 of admission happened in EA. However, that has been changed in the last couple years partly due to the increase in application. Now it is only around 1/3 of total admission we’re done before 12/24. Considering half of the students applied EA, the admission rate is about the same as the RD round has almost double the number of application and approximately double the number of admission.

Last year I applied to LSA for early action and received my email decision in my inbox on Wednesday, December 21st at exactly 7:20pm EST. Don’t assume 3pm because it could be any time. I was accepted early action with a 29 ACT and 3.85 GPA from a rural in state high school. Best of luck.

U-M admissions just posted on their Twitter reiterating what they’ve been saying all this time – that decisions will definitely be out by Dec. 24. Really doesn’t give us much to work with in terms of when decisions will actually start to be released.

has anyone even bothered calling admissions?

Hi everyone, nerrrrrvous about the U Mich decision, like everyone else! Does anyone know about whether UM really does a “holistic” review? It’s by far my #1 choice, but I don’t know how great my chances are. High ACT (35) but lower than ideal GPA (3.98W). GPA is lower mainly because Freshman grades were so-so, but almost all A’s Soph and Junior year, lots of AP/Honors courses. Very academically rigorous HS courseload. A’s in all science and math courses throughout High school (I’m applying to COE). Lots of sports and ECs but not a lot of typical “leadership” things, ie not team captain or class president, etc. Work experience at tech form last 2 summers. Lots of volunteer work. Anyone have any informed opinions on my chances? Does anyone know anyone with similar stats who got in?
