@UofMorMSU I wouldn’t be so quick to discredit these people if I were you. There’s no reason for them to lie about being admitted. As you can see throughout this thread, many people have gotten decisions earlier. Decisions will not come out the same day for everyone… which doesn’t necessarily mean it’s “rolling admission.”
Let’s try to keep this a lighthearted thread filled with encouragement for all the people nervously waiting! Keep hanging in there everyone!
@olympicwest He didn’t say he was a transfer student… that was his first post too so I have no way of knowing. And for freshman admissions EA, it’s not rolling. Unless you can show me something that says otherwise, no one should expect anything until December 18th.
@UofMorMSU it is indeed rolling admissions for transfers after the deadline. I suppose I never noticed that it doesn’t say in the title that this is a thread for winter transfers so I can see some confusion but yeah only transfers can be admitted in the winter semester.
I am currently finishing my application for U of M to apply as a transfer student Fall 2017 to LSA. Do you guys have any tips or advice that could help me get in? I have an upward GPA trend, 2.7,3.1,4.0,4.0,4.0 so my gpa is 3.55. I explained in my application why it was hard for me to adjust first quarter.
I go to DePaul and we are on a quarter system so I will be able to submit my application in December as we have a 6 week break from thanksgiving to the new year and have finals before then. I am from Michigan it has always been my dream to attend UofM.
@dullbd just make sure you keep your GPA at that 4.0. Also michigan likes lots of credit hours. Convert your quarter credits to semester credits and make sure you’re at a sophomore or junior level. It’s not impossible to get accepted if you’re not a junior but they definitely prefer that. Just make sure all your material is in as early as possible oh and of course make sure the classes you’re taking actually transfer to michigan. Good luck!
I am applying with around 42 credits but will have a little over 60 by the time I would attend. Do they look at potential credits from classes you’re going to take before attending when evaluating your app or just earned credits?
I’m a sophomore right now so would be transferring as a junior!
that is 60 credits in semester credits correct? They do ask you to send in your current schedule while evaluating your application. So I would assume that they consider the amount of credits you’ll have after that semester in your application and they also look at the classes you’re taking and make sure that you’re challenging yourself.
Some other suggestions. Take a foreign language if you haven’t already. LSA requires 4 semester of a foreign language and they want you to have already started that before coming to michigan. They also like to see classes in a variety of subjects covering math, english, science, social sciences and humanities. Make sure you cover your basses. I think you’ll be good. Keep your grades up!
I wouldn’t be shocked if I was denied and ended up applying for the fall semester as well. I’ve got a 4.0 cumulative but my credit hours are kinda holding me back and my high school grades suck. I applied with 42 credit hours and taking 14 this semester. so 56 credit hours total. So a little similar to yours but my high school grades are garbage. But I’ve met with admissions many of times (I live 20 minutes from ann arbor) and I’ve been told I’m doing everything right. But hey doing everything right doesn’t guarantee you anything.
Just checked wolverine access 10 minutes ago… Accepted to LSA!!! Totally was not expecting a decision so early, seeing as all my materials were received on October 6. Sort of in shock, will post stats tomorrow if anyone’s interested. Have an 8 am midterm tomorrow, so gotta go to bed somehow lol.
Stats:
School: Rutgers
Overall GPA: 3.95
Fall Semester: 4.0 (15 credits)
Spring Semester: 3.88 (16 credits)
Summer Semester: 4.0 (7 credits)
16 credits pending (current)
16 AP credits from high school.
2210 SAT
No ACT
I have not received an email yet. As far as I know, they update their decision on wolverine access around 1-2 am, and then send out the email in the afternoon later that day.
When I applied in the fall I actually only got an email. It never seemed to show up in wolverine access. So it’s possible that if you’re denied you only find out from the email and if you have a “view decision” link on wolverine access that probably means you got accepted.
