University of Michigan Application

Hi. I am interested in applying to U of M but I am unclear of which school to apply to. I am interested in both Computer Science and Economics, however I am also interested in many other things (and because of this was interested in LS&A).

Is it possible for me to do a minor or something in the Engineering, while enrolled at LS&A?

Also, I have read that there is an option for dual enrollment, but I have also read that this takes 5 or so years to complete both focuses. Is this true? If I do try to do a dual enrollment
should both of my essays (which essentially ask why I am choosing to go into that program) focus on the combination of both or each school individually as if I were applying to one and not the other. (I feel like the ladder might be the better route because I have heard that each admission decision is made independent of each other, but I am not sure)

Also, because each school is making it's own decision will it take a lot longer to hear about whether I get in?

If I remember correctly you can only to two schools within UM if one of them is the School of Art and Design. So, in your case, I believe you would apply to one or the other, but you can still major or minor in whatever you want.

You should call the University though. They explained it very well at my session, I just didn’t unfortunately didn’t bother to remember information that wasn’t personally pertinent.

Yeah you can double major in both CS and Economics. Of course you want 1 essay to be all about your LSA major, and the other to be about your engineering major.

Also yeah, you can major in something in LSA and minor in something in Engineering (or any other college). Keep in mind you can major in CS through either LSA or College of Engineering.
