My daughter just got an email from the University of Michigan congratulating her on being invited to audition. U of Mich does not require a prescreening for VP, but she has been under the assumption that they do not invite everyone who applies to audition, so she was very excited. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows how difficult it is to be invited to audition. Does anyone know what criteria they use - is it a combination of grades plus what's listed on the resume and repertoire list? She had to attach both a complete resume, listing all ensembles she's performed in and all private teachers, etc., plus a repertoire list, including what was performed publicly and/or from memory (and as a vocalist, pretty much everything's from memory).

Thanks for any info you might have. I realize getting invited to audition is nothing compared to actually being accepted into the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, but she was still excited anyway. She has not applied to any schools that require a prescreening, so this is the closest she could get to that excitement!
