Hello!
Second post on this site, I really love what its about.
I am interested in engineering and would love to do a direct admit to U of M’s engineering college, but am unsure if I am fit. I asked the assistant director of admissions at one of the dinners U of M alumni put on and she said that with all of my extra activities and my interests that my application would look out of place just applying to the LSA school there.
That being said, I know my scores and everything are probably more competitive if I were to apply to LSA. I could just aim to get in there and then try to transfer to the engineering college. (I am aware that there is no promise that I could do that however.)
What do you think? Should I aim for a direct admit to the more competitive school or try for LSA?

Internships:
Did an internship at Wayne State University in their CARES lab and built/programmed a biomechatronic hand.
Legacy:
My mom is currently employed at the hospital, whether or not this helps I really don’t know but they ask about it on the common app so I have a feeling it matters somewhat.
My passion really does lie with the work I’ve done with my rockets and I have loved every engineering opportunity I have come across. I feel my application would feel a little out of place for LSA, but also know my math at a 31 is not that impressive. I plan on submitting both my 32 and 33. I also am in state so that helps out. I am worried because I have seen some spotty admissions from my school when it comes to the engineering. Last year about 12 people got accepted to U of M out of about 120, with the only engineering applicant getting wait listed who had much stronger credentials than another student the previous year who got in. What do you think? Thanks so much.
